So I bought the laptop and it messed up and had to send it back. Fine.... i'll deal with it. Now... the bezel on the optical drive is very awkward and unique from other laptop bezel drives and is very hard to find. I called them.... and they said they would sell me a bluray burner drive for 250 dollars..... and I was like no way. So... I bought my own slimline 17.3 mm drive which is compatible and fits and all only if I use my original bezel. here is the kicker.. the old bezel cannot be removed as most of it will come off but the left side has a very strong "v clip" looking thing that wont come out. I think they did this so that you would have to buy a new drive only from them. This is pathetic as I have bought a blu ray drive for 100 bucks that writes and reads but now I cant remove the bezel from my older one. Of course I know how to remove bezels because I did so with the new drive that came in but had to put it back on since I cant remove the old bezel drive.

Blu ray burners sell for well under $100 bucks shipped now online to consumers at alot of places. So who is trying to sell one for $250? A tad steep considering blu ray burners cost less than $50 a piece wholesale in bulk...........use a small jewelry flat blade screwdriver and the bezel will come off no problem.

I tried it... trust me this bezel doesnt come off in order for them to profit.

Hmm. Ok the bezel of the new blu ray drive is like the standard rectangle shaped bezel that goes on the drives. That is very easy to take off. The sager np7280 model has a very different bezzel. Most of it will come off, but the other one does not. I have tried and pried and sometimes putting a dangerous amount of force on the bezel. If I do anymore, it will break the plastic. No sir this particular bezel does not come off.

Then your using the wrong sized flat tipped screwdriver, or your doing something wrong. They come off pretty easily.

Have you dealt with the odd shaped bezels that sager np7280 series have personally?

Can you take a pic of the clamp that you can't get loose Gandalf? Could possibly help the members identify a way to help.

The bezel on the stock drive has a single screw holding it in place if I remember right. Make sure you remove that before you try to pry the whole thing off. It should come off fine though, we've swapped them a lot for caddies. That said, it may not fit the new drive correctly because it won't fit 100% on all drives depending on how they attach their bezels.

Assuming this is the X7200 then yes Ive witnessed the drive swapped. Just to make sure, when you try and remove the bezel the drive is in the EJECT position right and not closed? If your trying to remove that or any bezel when the drive is closed up then good luck, lol. But when the tray is open it is not a hard swap out. Obviously your missing something really simple here. WHy dont you post up some pics pointing to the issue, it would be alot easier to then explain what you need to do. Lets get your new drive installed already. :)
