    Hello all,

I was just wondering if anyone in Canada has had a Sager shipped from XoticPC? If so how much did you have to pay once the package got to your doorstep? I am also wondering if anyone has got the Steel Series keyboard mod from XoticPC if so how is it?

    Thanks

Hey, I made a thread about this earlier. Heres the link:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/reseller-feedback-forum/670869-xoticpc-canada.html

I did a fair bit of research and as far as I can tell you will get better prices when everything is said and done through a Canadian dealer.

Eurocom is great if you are a student for the 10% discount and Reflexnotebook seems pretty legit too.

TheFinalCost.com - Canadian total shipping fees calculator (brokerage, duty, customs)

This site is useful to calculate the costs to see how American dealers stack up with Canadian ones. That being said Be Careful! TheFinalCost.com - Canadian total shipping fees calculator (brokerage, duty, customs) does not calculate HST in provinces where it is applicable...it only calculates GST!

tl;dr Go with Eurocom or Reflexnotebook

Thank you for the info. I looked at Eurocom's website and they do not seem to have new hardware in their configurator. I have spoke to Reflex and they seem to be very good, but I kind of want the Steel Series keyboard which they do not offer as far as I can see.

The Racer 2.0 is Eurocom's laptop based on the Clevo P150. You can configure the newer hardware into this model (Ivy Bridge, 7970M etc...). However there doesn't appear to be an option for the Steel Series keyboard. Might be worth it to ask them about it though!

I ordered my current laptop to Montreal in February 2009. You will have to pay import taxes (13.5%). Make sure to select the option in which you won't have to pay brokerage fees! (~$80) I don't remember it's which one exactly

Select the express options as they are the ones that will save you brokerages fees plus you get your laptop much faster! :)

I ordered from Reflex last month and Xotic 4 years ago. Both offered very good service. I guess it just depends on your needs. Xotic offers more customization, while you should get a better price with Reflex because of the free shipping to Canada. Keep in mind that Reflex's prices are already converted to canadian dollars.

    UPS Worldwide Expedited/Express
I got $10 brokerage admin fee, plus TAX.
The item was marked made in the USA so NAFTA applied and I did not have any DUTY to pay.

Also, if you purchase with a Canadian Creditcard you will get dinged 2.5%+ the Exchange rate.

If you are with BMO they have a US mastercard that is free for the first year. I'm sure the other major banks have something similar as well. It's too bad we don't have a way to do the cash transfer with a bank in Canada.

Thank you for the info everyone much appreciated. If the notebook says it is made in the USA than that saves some money.
