Hello everyone
I came for and advice on this forum, for what laptop to buy and a person recomended me to buy sager NP 8662, from website xoticpc.com
A visited website and ive seen that laptop and i really liked it. And i want to purchase it, but the problem is, i live in Belgium and i think its possible to send it to over here BUT ive read that i need to pay some taxes is it true? and how do you calculate and how do i pay those taxes, cuz i just transfer money for example to account of that shop and they will just send or ...?
Then the keyboard layout, it should be azerty for me, is it possible form them to make it?
And also the cabel i thought there is a difference here and in NA.
So anyone who already bought from over there and has experience, could you give me advice or help me to find a solution? Is there an online shop from over europe that sells this Sager?
I have seen clevo seling online in europe but not that sager!
Thanks in advance.

Try Kobalt computers, an UK company that ships anywhere in Europe. They are really one of those old fashioned companies (in a good sense), where you deal with real people and they make you feel special (which, as a costumer, we all have the right to feel). The service is very personalized and, because the company is not huge, you will be dealing with people that know a lot about every technical aspect of the hardware and are willing to go the extra mile to put a big smile on your face.
The computer you are looking for is called Nexus (Kobalt branding). I have bought mine one year ago, still amazingly good, up to date, fast and crunching everything I throw at it (from games to programs).
If you look around, you will find other alternatives, but if you don't have any in your country, I completely vouch for Kobalt as one of the most amazing companies I have ever made business with (on top of that, the pound is weak compared to the Euro, so it's a good time to buy things from the UK). Check their website (google it, it is easy to find) and if you have any other questions, pm me.
Good luck in your choices,

I also recommend Kobaltcomputers (100%) and I suggest you email or call them to clarify anything you are not sure about.
-
I believe Pman also got his M980U from Kobalt a week ago. Nothing but high praise like Milcs stated good company customer first attitude.
-
You can also buy an M860 from Notebookguru.de and configure it with Belgian keyboard.

Kobalt all the way. website and forum in my sig below.
i got my nexus the same time as milcs above after both our nightmares at alienware and cannot praise them enough with the personal touch that you dont get from many places now a days. -
oh ok guys ill chek this all out, nice when there is a good service, i like that!
-
when you ring you will either talk to the managing director (andrew) or technical director (neil) and you cant get much better service than that.
-
For me Kobalt has been rather disappointing. Altough Neil replied to my thread here, there was never any reply to the emails I've sent to them almost a month ago.
I wanted to buy a GTX 280M from Kobalt, but in the end I got from RJ Tech. -
if there are also other online shops, pls tell )
-
they were meant to get a large stock delivery of the graphics cards but due to numerous delays which were out of kobalts hands the cards they did have were priorotized for computer builds only. -

I bought my notebook from xxodd ( www.xxodd.nl) dutch clevo("sager") reseller.
-
I also bought form RJ sice I find EU prices al little spicy. You should though be aware that you might have to pay the VAT (19% in my country) depending on customs regulations.
Best thing to do is to check with the customs and compare the prices of the shops you chose so you can be sure yo make the best deal.
I bought every component (but the vga) separatley and the whole deal was al little over 1000E. Hope it helps. -

They sell some on Ebay, depending on where you are in the EU. The link below is for the M860TU selling in Germany.

Hi shkipper. Just wanted to let you know : I'm also from Belgium, and I bought my M980NU at PCSystems-EvolutionX in Germany (same as the ebay link just posted above). that's the second Clevo I bought there (first one was M570TU last year) and it's definately the best choice for me.
if you speak french, come over at [LINK REMOVED BY MODERATOR] and check the review I made of the computer in Clevo section (same user, same avatar). if you have any questions, don't hesitate -
is the gtx 260M the beste mobile graphic card atm?
-
no, the GTX 280M is.
-
I cant reccomend Kobalt enough, i have had excellent service with them
I am an Alienware convert and cant see me going back at the moment
I got my M980Nu nearly 3 weeks ago -
MR DJ, hey , i really want to buy a NP8662 laptop and i see its only for USA. I gona live in UK very soon for university and i believe there is no support for it. i checked kobalt computers and i saw the nexus which is the same. if i buy it from kobalt and anything happens will i be able to give it there and have it fixed ? will i have support ?
thx in advance -
every company or OEM reseller has their own name branding for the m860tu/np8660/np8662/nexus. they are the same computer. if you buy it from sager in america it will be called the np8662 and if you buy it from kobalt in the uk it will be called the nexus.
if you buy it in america and then move to the uk and it needs repairing im not sure how you stand. you may have to send it back to america for repair and you will have to pay the courier charges as you are out of the country.
the same with if you buy it from kobalt and then go back to america and it breaks. you will then have to send it back to the uk by courier. unless you can arrange with a local company to repair it but then you will be charged for courier, repair and labour.
whichever company you buy it from it will come with 1 years waranty and this can be extended to 3 years. if you are in the country you bought it from you will be fully covered for courier charges, repairs and labour.
hope this helps sillas.

thx a lot ! and another thing , I notice that there are some differences between the american site and the kobalt site. eg: in american u can also choose 1920 resolution and in kobalt only 1680. or in kobalt u can choose q9100 quad and in american only q9000. why is this ?
so am gona live in UK , where u recommend i buy it from ? and its guaranteed that i will get it right ? no tricks or something i mean. -
each company decides what components they want to supply that are readily available. there has been delays in the uk getting some motherboards in the past from intel so kobalt removed these from their website as it would just delay a customers order even longer.
kobalt also removed the 1920 res screens due to quite a lot having dead pixels a while ago.
if you go to the kobalt forum in my signature below the managing director or technical director will be able to advice you on the best way to go.
the 1920 screen can still be ordered as far as i know but this will have to be done by speaking to the kobalt staff.
imo and many others on here i regard kobalt as one of if not the best high end computer company in the uk.
im just a customer myself who purchased a nexus last year and have been so happy with it. its defanately been the best computer ive ever owned and ive had a few. -
but the 1680 x 1050 is very fine right ? i mean does someone need more ?
and is is the quality of the laptop guaranteed ? is it defective or ? -
the 1680x1050 is what im using on my Nexus and is perfect. the higher resolution screen would be better if you do a lot of photoshop.
all laptops are built to your specification and then fully tested before they are released. there have been a couple of situations that ive read about that the computers are damaged on arival to the customer. this is mainly down to the courier company handling them with not as much care as should be.
the laptops are fully coverd and will be repaired.
the 1 year warranty covers you for any breakdown or malfuntion for the year including the courier charges to and from the company you buy from. this can be extended to 2 or 3 years. -
am really "scared" before i buy a laptop , thx
think am going for this one
-
i know its a lot of money but its the best computer ive ever bought.
i can understand your worry about using a company just by looking at their website. if you look HERE at their forum and go to the testimonial page you will see the feedback from customers that have already bought from kobalt.
they are a small family run company and if you phone them up for advice you will speak to the managing director or technical director of the company and you cant get much better than that. -
thx
what am scared most is because i dont know this company/laptops like the known ones like dell , toshiba , alienware etc . and am kinda afraid if its good quality , reliable ( not only in games , generaly as a laptop ), etc.
-
i bought a alienware m15x before this one and it was the biggest pile of poo id ever owned. i had so many problems with it i lost count and they are now part of dell.
you will find quite a lot of people have come from AW across to kobalt or many of the other resellers in the uk.
my advice would be to go to their forum and ask the owners on there how good they are.
also kobalt had the world exclusive prototype of the m980/comanche sli back in april so that just shows the reputation this small uk company has. -
so u highly reccomend nexus ? and i will be satisfied ?
-
i dont have a nexus, but i do have a M980bu Via Kobalt and they are great guys there
-
I have a Nexus and I recommend it 100% without any doubts. I have every single game at native resolutions either high or highest settings with great results as well as a very cool laptop temperature wise.
-
like LaptopNut i recommend them 100%
-
ok, really thx a lot guys
!!!
-
glad to of helped. anything else you need to ask just holler.
-
I bought my M860TU (Devil 9000 DTX) at www.deviltech.de - they offer 5 language options for keyboard as well as the operating system. They ship within the EU. They must be the cheapest reseller out there. Expect about 3 weeks delivery time.
-
it helps if you can speak german as well
-
I am currently in the same situation. I live in Belgium aswell and also want to order a Clevo/Sager notebook.
About 6 months ago I purchased an 860tu for my cousin from xxodd.nl. They are located in Holland but use a special "delivery system". They do NOT send the notebook to your home, instead they send it to a xxodd dealer of your choice. And since there aren't any in Belgium, you will need to make a small car trip over the border if you want one. But no worries, there is a xxodd dealer just over the border in Terneuzen (about 50min drive from Gent) called Hacktic Computer Products. I had no problems ordering from Belgium and the notebook was ready for pickup in less then 2 weeks. The only thing I'm not sure off is how the warranty works, since I assume they will not come and pick it up. (But my cousin hasen't had any probs with his new toy yet, so ...)
Never the less, it would seem that notebookguru.de has better prices and does ship to your home. I'll contact them and ask them how their warranty system works outside of Germany and maby I'll try ordering from them instead.
Sager in europe, possible?
