This is a two part question.
First: On the bottom of my sager the model number is: M570RU. When looking at the sager website it says:
NP5790 (SKU M570RU)
NP5791 (SKU M570RU)
So what exactly does that mean? and does anyone know how I can figure out my model with the NP code? As for my laptop receipt... I no longer have it...
Second question:
I want to buy some new ram for my computer. I have 2gigs right now but I am not sure if it is DDR3 or DDR2. By figuring out my model number I may be able to discover that.
This leads into my question. If my computer is DDR2, does that mean DDR3 ram will not work? Or will it just not work as optimally?
I apologize for my noob questions... But thank you for answering them.

first of all , the answer to the model number is in the Clevo Guide.
and your system supports DDR2-667... you can install DDR2-800 (but the chipset will just downclock it to 667) -
So buying DDR2-800 would ultimately result in the same speed as DDR2-667?
Also, am I to believe that putting in DDR3 ram into my computer would just cause it not to work? -

If you want to buy more RAM, simply search for 'PC2 5300 laptop memory', they are the short fat looking ones (desktop 5300 is obviously long and skinny). Most of this RAM comes in 5-5-5-15 CAS latency, however, you can buy 4-4-4-12 latency, which is technically faster, but you probably won't notice any difference. This is the RAM set I have in my system. I am baffled because the set was only 50 bucks earlier this year, but is up to almost 100 now!
Ah HA! Here is a review complaint and response I found on NewEgg:
Complaint: "Cons: as DDR2 becomes rare it becomes more and more expensive... so stock up already (written on 10/28/2009)"
Response: "Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear your memory package is working well. With regards to pricing, DDR2 prices do slightly go up since they are past their prime time as new modules are released. Unfortunately we do not control the pricing, so we can not do anything about it. Should you have any questions or issues with your memory package, please feel free to let us know.
Thank you

So yeah I bought some Transcend Jetram DDR2-667 2gb x 2 for about 90 bucks. I think it was expensive.
It's in my comp now, but my memory rating still is 4.8 despite me having twice the ram now.
As for performance wise... I'm not really sure if it's any slower or faster. Seems the same... -
did you make sure your Powermizer is disabled (from Nvidia Control Panel)?
did you make sure your Windows Power Options is set to Max performance?
Also, do a 3DMark06 or Vantage benchmark and show us the detailed results... not just the total score.
And which videocard do you have... I forgot to ask. -
I tried looking for powermizer, but as you can see in my screenshot there is no option for it (it said in the help there would be one) Am I looking in the right place?
My video card is NVIDIA GeForce 8700M GT NBF mobile force enhanced drivers
As for Vantage... I am currently installing it and will produce the results upon completionAttached Files:

I ran vantage but its only trial version so It really does not say much. Do I need to purchase it?
-
thats only a mid-range card, so your experiences about right.
the 8800M GTX will outperform that 8700M GT by about two times if you are wondering.
the main difference is the memory interfaces between the GPUs that define if the card is mid-range or high-end.
8700M GT = 128-bit memory interface
8800M GTX = 256-bit memory interface -
http://service.futuremark.com/resultAnalyzer.action?resultId=243295&resultType=18 I hope this site works. It's my computer

I believe my computer has a removable video card. So I could in theory just buy a 8800M GTX (mobile?) and stick it in? -
in fact, many of those that own that notebook have switch to a 8800M GTX, 9800M GT, or 9800M GTX.
8800M GTX / 9800M GT (same thing) is the most popular card for that model.
just need to do a BIOS update before sticking in the new card. -
-
you usually have to contact a Clevo vendor (email or phone) and ask for them.
then they will tell you the availability and pricing.
start with:
- your vendor of your notebook
- then the big Clevo importer OEMs (like Sager, Pro-Star/Mtech, Eurocom)
- then RJtech.com
etc.. -
Interesting. I will ask. -
-
Looks like he ran PCMark Vantage rather than 3DMark Vantage
-
I'm a little lost. What should I run? Does anyone have a link I can go and download something? Sorry
-
This is what you're looking for.
You can only run it once. -
Here are my results:

what do they mean?
