My friend just got the Core 2 Duo on his E1505, and it's like.. not much better for gaming. We were both running Counter Strike Source, and we both had around the same FPS(his was like 1-2 better). Well, that's not suprising since we have the same computer other than the fact his is Core 2 Duo. Other than the like 2 fps diference.. there wasn't a diference that we could notice.

The biggest difference you'll notice right now will be with Merom will be in things like 3d rendering and video encoding, that kind of thing. In most benchmarks those seem to be the things where the difference is most notable.

I don't think that something like Counter-Strike Source is CPU limited for you right now anyway so I wouldn't expect an FPS difference that extreme.

You might also start noticing more difference with the 64-bit version of Windows Vista, but who knows.
