    Has anyone heard anything about this model or Sager notebooks in general. I know they generally use good quality parts and use components used in many of the big name notebooks, but I have not heard anything about thier build quality or how they stand up.

    This model has an atholon 64 3400 processer and a 17" widescreen. Would it be comparable wiith the Fujitsu n6010?

    actually, i'd stay away from that model...people are reporting major issues such as it crashes hard core (black screen) due to incompatibility between the wireless card and processor. see the bottom of this article:

    Actually, I heard that the problems with the lockups is a known issue of incompatibility. You can't use an Intel Wireless card with an AMD processor. (or so they say). In anycase, just make sure you get a machine with a non-intel wireless card and the lockups won't be an issue.

    PC load letter. WTF does that mean!??

    I own the NP4750V (XP 3700 w/2GB, upgraded recently to WD 100GB 7200).

    Shortly after I purchased it with a Targus backpack, the screen picked up some keyboard scratches because the case was too thin to keep the lid from flexing. And after two years, the case is beginning to crack near the hinges for much the same reason (cheap plastic).

    However, on the whole, I'm still quite happy with it. But Vista Business may change that. Having performed a virgin install, I'm having ACPI issues, the chipset as a whole is running hotter than it ever did under XP-Pro.

    Your mileage may vary.

    My wife and I purchased a Sager NP4750 in 2005 on the advice of a computer expert. Both computers are lemons, are so heavy that we cannot hardly move them and they have been back to the manufacturer and after the warranty period expired to Phillips as the warranty agency a total of eight times. Of the total 18 months that we have had the computers they have actually operated about one month. Everytime they come back there is another problem. The last time we returned my wifes computer the piece that attaches to the AC charger was broken off (the third time). Instead of fixing it the repair center fraudulently said that the piece was missing and thus the warranty void. I had a computer repair person fix the machine and because of the idiotic method used by Sager in cold sodering the A/C adapter to the charger unit it falls off if the plug moved a minute amount. They also failed to include the proper colling with the fan which would result in overheating. With mine, now the ninth time to be sent back, the last time it started to work for about 10 minutes and then it would turn off. I had a diagnostics performed and there is another malfunction, this time with the mother board (the second one in this machine) which causes it to reach 212 degrees before the unit automatically turns off. If the two machines that we purchased are any indication of the quality and customer service that Sager displays I strongly urge you and anyone else looking for a computer to stay away. These machines were designed and manufactured by people that could not care less about quality or customer service. The manufacturer and repair center are fun by a bunch of idiots who gladly take your money and then treat you like they could not care less about what happens after you buy their product. As I need the computers in my business and my wifes business we bought two replacement computers, one Toshiba and one Dell. The Toshiba is now back on warranty for the sixth time through Comp USA. The Dell has operated for 7 months flawlessly. My advise, stay away from Powernotebooks.com and Sager computers. If you do buy a computer get an extended warranty. If you buy a Sager expect the warranty center to defraud you by telling you that you opened the computer, when you didn't, so that they do not have to continuously try to repair something that they are not capable of repairing.
