    Hi,

My fx 3700m in my sager np5792 works fine under low effort condition. But once I start playing a game after a while the screen simply goes black, the screen itself is still on, but it's a black screen. The computer itself also stays on. I have monitored the temperature which doesn't go over 70 under heavy load.

Then when I manually reboot the computer the screen stays black again, no beeping or anything it's just black. So I cycle On/off/on/off with 5 mins interval and after a while it starts no problem.

The driver I currently have is the performance quadro driver from nvidia website that is the most up to date.

The bios of my sager is .13aS

The vbios of my card is 62.92.33.00.00 it's build date is 01/29/08

I know some of you guys have flashed a 260gtx and get 30 secs beep at bootup.

My question is would it be possible to flash a 8800m gtx vbios on this card? I was very happy with the performance of the 8800m gtx.

And, I have never flashed a graphic card before. Could you guys point me to a tutorial or some ressource online?

    Or more simply,

would a new driver solve my issue? Have you guys ever had an issue like that?

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thank you

P.S. final note, my card is an engineering release is that special in any ways? (bad ways)

The fx3700m also draws more power than my old 8800 gtx. I still have my old brick. Do you think the problem could originate there?

I know it's an oldie but I hope there are still np5792 owners around.

So If you browsing the internet, the unit is O.K. But you play game, the screen turn black?

I think the 3D chip on your graphic card is broken. You need to contact Sager for repair.

The screens turns black after a while playing a game. I would say after an hour sometimes 2.

I doubt sager can do anything for me at this point. The fx3700m isnt supported officially.

I still have my 8800m gtx around but I was looking for a more long term replacement.

I got an update on my issue maybe you guys can help me out a little more with that new information.

It seems to be game specific. When I play tf2 there is no problem except a driver issue that recover itself after 30 secs.

If I play starcraft 2, the computer will shut down completely after what seems to be a random time. I've rechecked my temperature and everything is fine on that side.
What I was thinking is that im still using my 4 year old power brick. which outputs 20V at 6 A or 120 Watt.

I think that the fx 3700m draws more power than the 8800m gtx.

Sssooo my question is can the power brick be the problem?

If so could someone recommend a certain safe amount of power I should check. I will buy an official one. I do not trust thirdpartys cheapo version.

Anyways thanks a lot for your time.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but did you finally solve the problem?
I'm goin to buy a replacement for my 8800M GTX as well, but couldn't justify how to implement the VGA (noobish in flashing BIOS)
    Thanks!
