So my np8651 (p650se) came with only one sodimm of 8GB 1600 cl11, decided to order another stick to have it run in dual channel. Today I got the other stick in the mail, specifically this one, and put it in the corresponding slot expecting it to work dandy.

To my surprise it didn't work. Completely blank screen and no boot screen. Took it out and it booted fine on the original stick. Put only the new stick in trying to boot in either slot and still no dice.

Did I really just receive a DoA sodimm? Or is there something I'm missing about setting this up.

I have the same laptop. Mine came with 8GB of ram and I bought another 8 gigs. It worked immediately after installing it. I've had the laptop for many months now and I've had no problems with respect to the RAM memory. My guess is that it's DoA.

As far as I can tell, there shouldn't be any issue with that ram you purchased. I would think it is probably a bad stick too, and would ask for refund/exchange on it.

Yeah, looks like it's faulty RAM. Time to RMA.

    Yeah, it's bad.

Are you matching the sticks (brand and specs)?
