    Hello, all.
I am going to be getting the np9150 soon and had an audio question. People keep saying the audio is bad , and that it's a sound card issue. They also say that most headphones lack bass, but not all. Has anyone used this laptop with the steel series Sibera V2 headset? Would that be sufficient to provide good surround sound ? Or would I need a USB sound card in addition to that ? I don't mind wearing headphones because I always do when using any computer.

It really depends on how finicky you are about audio quality. The onboard chip is generally good enough, but even for those who are content with it, I think many would agree that a USB sound card - such as the Xonar U3 - produces higher quality audio.

I haven't used the Steel Series Siberia headphones; I'm a fan of IEMs, personally. But for gaming, headphones will get you more natural sound reproduction and will be better for surround virtualization. My suggestion is to shop around, read some reviews, ask some questions (like you are now), etc. on particular headphones that you're interested in. :)

    Happy hunting!

Speakers are horrible and on board soundcard lacks any good reproduction of what is supposed to be played, lacks bass and the highs are not crisp.

Any external USB sound card is required. I use a Vantec one myself and it is worlds apart from the on board audio, i use astro a40 headphones and also have a pair of steelseries headphones (forgot the model).
