    Hello Folks.
Thought I might get some input / creative advice on the system I think I have settled on. ( not yet purchased ) I am debating another battery and charger. ?
I am not too worried about the warranty. as long as I can get parts from Sager. I might cut some cost and only get the 1 year. I'm hoping to swap some stuff out in 2/3 years anyway. I have read that these laptops are pretty easy to work on.
The system needs to run Multiple 3D authoring programs. CAD/BIM and some light Rendering.
I would appreciate some thoughts on hard drive setup. How best should I configure 2 drives? dedicated SSD drive for the os and software, with data on another drive.
Last But not least is the Nvidia Quadro K3000M . isn't this card meant for 17" screens? ( battery killer? ) its not even available on the Lenovo 15.6

Take a look. let me know what you think. I have posted the prices due to there relevance to the final design. The system isn't cheap. It would be nice if it performed up to par. I have not posted the Lenovo specs as they are similar to below except for the graphics card is the Nvidia Quadro K2000M and i would need to get the least amount of ram , then upgrade to 32GB myself.

I am rethinking the Killer™ Wireless-N 1103 as i've read some issues in these forums.

Any thoughts on is it better to buy from Sager direct, or use one of the re sellers out there.

Thanks. I hope I have posted this in the correct spot.

    Hi Dave
check out the resellers instead of direct from sager > http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/656776-ask-resellers-questions-reseller-thread.html

what will be your most demanding thing you will be doing with the lappy as i think youve gone overkill with the cpu.
knock the killer wireless on the head and go for the 6235 with bluetooth as reading on here there has been a lot of talk about drops in connection.
i know nothing about the quadro K3000M so cant advise on this.
the 9150 only has 1 hard drive bay at sataIII and the option of a msataII drive and replace the disc drive for another sataII drive.
to be honest as you are going for very high spec then i would seriously think about the 17" instead so you can get the extra drives at sataIII. why buy the top spec and then compromise on slower hard drives.

and most importantly, and i advise everyone on this DO get the extended warranty. you are spending thousands on a piece of electrical equipment and the last thing you want is in a years time the motherboard or graphics card to die and you will have to splash out lots of $$$ to replace them. ok you might be fine and nothing goes wrong but trust me when i say this its total peace of mind. the amount of angry customers over the last 5 years that didnt take my advice and them a year later they are back on the forum looking for spare parts as they are not covered by warranty anymore. (this was mainly with the 9800GT graphics cards though, but they were roughly £300 to replace compared to free under warranty).

ive been told 16gb ram is overkill so really 32gb is crazy.

whichever you get the 15" or 17" they are both beasts of laptops.

thanks for the reply MrDJ. points taken. extended warranty especially when you put it like that. you reminded me of a desktop board that went bad on me 6 years ago. whew, that was a drag. I have been looking at the resellers today also, its between 2
the quadro K3000M will improve CAD performance and the ram is needed for Revit. which loves memory.
Ill post how it goes. I sorta want to lean a little more towards portability with the 15" but I do like the 17" screen.

    Thanks again. Be Well

the 15" matte standard screen is beautiful with vibrant bright colours so im guessing the 95% would be even better but honestly i cant see how.
so much better than my previous clevo glosse screen
