So guys, its been a sad sad day indeed. My np9150 has drop damage. The right side ( if viewing from the front of the laptop ) had been cracked a bit, and the case is cracked open a bit...It could have been much much worse. It's mostly aesthetic problems. I started up everything and it seemed just fine. No damage to internal hardware at all...Well, until I started playing a game. I went through several games in my steam library and noticed that I get lag almost immediately in every game. After checking my GPU temps through furmark, and HWmonitor, it shows that my 680m is reaching 92c in only a few seconds! I opened up the laptop and noticed that the heatsink has been damaged a bit and the fins have almost been split. I'm guessing this is my problem...So I looked on XoticPC and noticed that they dont carry the np9150 anymore so I'm nervous about hearing about RMA stuff...So if that falls through, does anyone know where I might find a replacement heatsink? And is drop damage covered in the 1 yr warranty? I imagine if they dont carry this laptop anymore, im probably screwed, which would be just my luck.

Any words of advice for me ? :(

If the warranty doesn't cover accidental damage, it's not covered. You would have to look at your warranty. As far as I know, Xotic don't do that anyway. The heatsink is a part you should be able to get from them however, and isn't hard to fit. The basic design hasn't changed much from the Clevo HM to SM models so it may well be the same heatsink for all three gens.

Sager doesnt include accidental damage on the warranty however you can still send it in to get fixed, there would just be a fee for it.
Even though the NP9150 isnt offered anymore they should still have parts set aside for repairs.
You could try just reseating the heatsink unless its physically broken. Do be sure to have thermal compound ready to apply before you reseat it.

You would basically be looking at cost of part(s) + labor fee (subjective) + shipping charge on the laptop (usually around $35 each way for standard UPS ground). It can add up rather quickly, but on something like this, you will pay less to have it repaired than you would in purchasing a comparable system.

You might be able to purchase a new heat sink outright and pay for it and the shipping on it. You won't know until you call and inquire, though. :)

Paying that much is ridiculous ._. I just want to buy a new one. I've been looking at "sager heatsinks" on ebay. But I've found mostly CPU heatsinks. I feel like i can replace it if i just had the part.

Sager will sell you just the part if you want.
You can probably also find it from some other Clevo resellers or Clevo Laptop Parts :: P150EM/P151EM/P170EM - R&J Technology, Clevo Barebone Notebook kits, Laptop and desktop system builder

Looks like they have it for like 60 bucks. Sager may be more or less, doesn't hurt to ask.

Thanks a lot for the link! That's just what i was looking for. Sucks they dont have an image available for the part, but I'm gonna close my eyes and trust that it's what I need. It really sucks buying all these new games during the steam sales and not being able to play :p ..

Give Sager a call or email and see if they will offer it any cheaper. Any Clevo reseller can probably gain access to the part though also.

I figured the price would be between $30-$60 and who knows how much for shipping.

Just be sure whomever you get from that you pick the one for your card type as they have 2, nvidia vs. ati.

If you haven't already purchased a new heat sink you might try simply repasting. Even though it has damage, it may be a simple issue of the TIM breaking its bond between the die and heat sink. It might cool well enough with the damaged heat sink.

Another tip, get the 170 series heatsink, it's made out of pure copper, fits and is a little bit better.
