1.The 9280 uses desktop components, right? So I should be able to replace parts (CPU, GPU) quite easily?

2.what is the likelihood of recieving a sager with a dead pixel and how do dead pixels appear over time?

3.are there any possible problems common to the 9280 that i should know about ahead of time?

    4.how is this for specs?

    6. how long will my machine last with the specs before becoming outdated to the point where i can't just replace parts?

Desktop components? No, only the CPU is a desktop component. Everything else is a laptop component. The GPU is an MXM III type B GPU, so to replace it, you would need something similar in size ( im not sure, but it may be possible that something smaller would fit as well )

    4) Just one thing Im looking at is the two 250GB drives. Im wondering why you would go with a configuration like that, when, if you wanted to, you could simply get a single 500GB HDD.

Oblivion, yes, F3, not completely maxed with max AA/AF, but you should be able to run with most settings on high and get more than adequate fps.

    5) Heard from who? The i7-920 should be able to soundly defeat any mobile CPU ( including the upcoming i7-m CPUs ) in any and all applications, sans batterylife and heat.

    6) CPU - Your last upgrade will likely be Westmere if your system is compatible, since it seems like it will use the same socket as Bloomfield. After that, no more upgrading, though, bloomfield should last you a while, and to be honest, even the i7-920 should last you quite some time as well.

GPU - Hard to say; there are many factors that determine this including the size, type, the thermal and power requirements of upcoming GPUs. There really is no guarantee that you can upgrade, only the possibility.

So....MXM III Type B and MXM 3.0 Type B are different? Well in that case, please, do tell.

There are two MXM formats currently in production: MXM 2.1 and MXM 3.0.

MXM 2.1 has four sizes: type I, type II, type III, type IV.
MXM 3.0 has two sizes: type A, type B.

For example, my M570TU has a MXM 2.1 slot that can accommodate up to a type IV card. The D900F uses a MXM 3.0 slot that can accommodate both type A and type B. MXM 2.1 and MXM 3.0 cards are not compatible with each other.

Ah ok, I was unaware that there was a difference for Roman Numerals and Arabic Numerals.

Yeah, it was mainly a clarification, as when someone says MXM III, most people assume MXM 2.1 type III, whereas you meant MXM 3.0. Easy to get confused with mxm...
