So ive been debating it for weeks now, Alienware M17x or Sager NP8760.
I was really leaning towards the alienware, as i love the aesthetics, and the personalized touches that Dell adds. And while the Sager was a few hundred cheaper, not much, but a good chunk, i was ready to go with the Alienware.
And than i made the mistake of saying overall the Sager was better, on the Alienware forum, and everyone started calling me a troll. Such fanboys over there.
The kindness of this forum, has won me over.
Plus i bought a Sager in 06, and have loved it since day one. I know what im getting with Sager.

to get the m17x to have the exact same specs as 8760 is quite a lot more.. i know that alienware has nicest aestathics which for me i do not like as it screams to everyone gamer! i want a wolf in sheep's skin....the original founders of alienware has even left the company ever since dell bought over and they have now opened a new company called origin pc...google it, they also now use clevo bodies which are exactly the same as sager

Origin PC is very expensive compared to other retailers that sell the same exact laptops.
Really depends what you want
A) Flashy laptop with backlit keyboard.
B) Understated laptop that performs just as well as the AW but for less $$$
Overall you can expect the same performance with the same hardware but then again the M17x is going to have XF 5870's very soon. -
Do you buy a laptop for a forum?
You will be surprised to know that most veteran members are equally active on both Clevo and AW forums and change the camps very fast
Don't feel discouraged when someone calls you a troll.
But they gave you a few important points. One is a warranty. If you travel a lot, Dell' warranty (upgraded) is definitely a powerful thing. When all of a sudden you need to replace a GPU, AW will do it within 2-3 days in most countries.
Another is the build quality. But I'm not saying that Clevo's have a poor quality. They rock, IMHO. Also, they both have the best cooling AFAIK.
Also, the RGB LED might be a bonus if you're into Photoshop etc.
Anyway, it's up to you to choose your fate.
Good Luck -
I think you made the right decision, but it's kind of silly to base a purchase off of how kind or unkind people who post on forum might be. Congrats anyway!

If you could afford it I'd go with the m17x with crossfire 5870s. I'd also wait it out a bit because clevo is apparently coming out with newer models soon.

lol He was referring to my response to his post in the AW forum where he said Sager is better over all than Alienware, without actually knowing that. The way he worded it sounded like a troll post and being both a Clevo owner and an Alienware owner I gave him my point of view based on my experiences with both brands.
No fanboy here, I like both brands and I gave you my honest opinion. Funny how you use that remark as your reason for deciding on the Clevo. Makes me think I was right about your post in the first place. -
Actually, I saw your thread on the AW forum, and I really wanted to post "in before you get flamed" but decided against it. You do know that the very word Clevo is a taboo in AW forum, and comparing it there is like heresy.
Nevertheless, you shouldn't be getting a notebook just because someone on that forum flamed you, you should be getting one you like. -

Same thing here in the Clevo forums, AW is taboo here. It's bad for us guys who aren't loyal and have to deal with the fanboys from both sides. You actually should have warned him about how his post looked and how it was worded. I was under the impression he was just another fanboy downplaying one company's product because it's taboo to him for whatever reason. But maybe he didn't realize when people make remarks declaring one brand better over the other without hands on experience with both to be able to make a valid judgment the remark is going come off the wrong way.
That aside, congrats on your purchase Nydas. You will no doubt have a lot of fun and enjoyment from your new system. One thing I would suggest though is to hold off for a month or so as Clevo is about to release some new products in June. You might be able to get something better in around the same price range with new improvements like USB 3.0, and some new GPU options. -

Went to the Origins PC site to just mess around and I was surprised. They might not be with Alienware no more but they sure did keep the Alienware prices.
Also you guys talking about a refresh, is there going to be one for the NP8690, will a new 15.6" be coming out? I only saw the new 17" but if a new 15.6" is coming from Sager/Clevo, I'll cancel my order right now. -

There's no news of any new 15.6" model, probably will only get refreshed when sandy bridge comes.

Sager owners, youve convinced me that this is the laptop for me.
