This isn't on Sager's website - I found it in Sager's advertisement in Computer Shopper magazine. Sager apparently has a new model called the NP9260, which features a 17" display and desktop Core 2 Duo processors.

    Base specifications are as follows:

    -17.0" WUXGA glossy screen
    - Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 (2.13GHz, 2MB L2, 1066MHz FSB)
    -512MB DDR3 Nvidia GeForce Go7950GTX PCI-e graphics
    - Dual Graphics SLI Technology Capable
    -1GB DDR2 dual-channel SDRAM at 667MHz
    -100GB 7200RPM SATA150 hard drive
    -8X DVD Super Multi drive
    -Full-sized keyboard with numeric keypad
    - Hardware RAID 0, 1, 5 function
    -Integrated 802.11a/b/g wireless
    -Integrated Bluetooth
    -Built-in 1.3M video camera
    -Built-in 7-in-1 card reader
    -Windows Vista Home Premium

    Total: $2,799

It looks like an upgraded D900 series, with a thinner design. It is very similar in looks though.

I also saw Pro-Star advertising the same thing; they call it the PR9191D.

Interesting! If you can, pick up a copy of Computer Shopper and check it out.

I have a hunch that we are seeing a new Clevo notebook model that is going to be released soon.... In fact I believe that this might me the replacement model for the D900 series.

    CeBIT 2007
    Hannover, Germany

... is about start in 4 days, and Clevo has a booth to introduce and show off their new models. This should be an interesting in the upcoming week... and exciting to see what this enthusiast notebook manufacturer has got lined-up for the the next year.

    Sweet....

anyone know if alienware is going to use this chassis?

i dont recall them mentioning a conroe processor

i wonder how hot/noisey that's going to run

    conroe is 65 tdp
    merom is 34 tdp
2 7950gtx pull 45watts a piece (not sure how much heat that is)

also that price seems pretty cheap, i'm guessing that's just with the minimum specs

I think it could also be called the Clevo D900c. I might be wrong, but would this be a picture of it? ;)

    No.

It's using a Conroe desktop processor, not a Merom processor. Hence the 1066 FSB.

And Santa Rosa will have a 800MHz FSB.

And yeesh, it looks like we're headed into the Pentium 4 era of notebooks again with this one...

280 W??? - We'll need an extra backpack for the AC Adapter!!! (And don’t forget to petition your local politician to build a neighborhood nuclear plant to keep you from blacking out the area when powering on this beast :) )

No, Santa Rosa does not have a 1066MHz FSB. It has an 800MHz one. This notebook uses desktop Conroe Core 2 Duo processors, which have a 1066MHz FSB.
Yup, you found it - that's the same picture that was in the magazine.

Thanks for posting the specs. It looks like a worthy replacement of the D900T. Three hard drives is a first for a notebook as far as I know, and wow, 280W PSU? Not even the current D900 series uses one that powerful; they use a 220W version.

owch owch owch owch. What a killer monster.

280w PSU. It will add another 10lbs to the weight lol. If at least the could hire Kensignton for this one. I use the 120w universal PSU and this thing is a beauty (never thought I'd say that about a laptop PSU lol). It's about the same height and width, but it's like 30% of the depth of the original 120w. It barely becomes hot.

    280w  .

The release date will be late April at the earliest, more likely mid-May.

However Sager and Pro-Star resellers will start taking pre-orders for them sometime later this week...

We know it is early for a pre-order but this beast will indeed be King of the Jungle.

When you have this much power in a laptop it is only for the bold. Those who worry about heat and noise should stay away. If you want a Bugatti, don't expect it to be cool and quiet....just expect it to be FASSSSSSSSSSSSST :D

Pricing will be released by Sager as of 6 PM Pacific Time on Thursday.

The shipping date is still tentative as late April at the earliest, and more likely by mid-May............PLEASE let's not start any rumors about it starting to ship any earlier than that.

The Sager NP9260 (Clevo D900C) will be released with the nVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX with 512MB (each) in SLi, not the 8800.

The expected shipping date is late April at the earliest, and it could well be mid-May.

there is a definite contradiction in the specs from mtech

because the 965 chipset is the santa rosa chipset for the merom cpu.

But the conroe series cpu is the desktop chipset. not compatible.

I hope the part that is the error is the desktop chip. Theres almost nothing desirable about that over the santa rosa meroms.

Which issue are you reading? I got my info out of the April 2007 one.
The Pro-Star ad is on pg. 39, and the Sager ad is on pg. 62.
I believe the NP9260 uses the desktop 965 series chipset.

Sounds like an amazing machine. But, I thinhk i would have still chosen my 9750 because it's already more than enough power and i can still get decent battery life. It also doesn't really get that warm so..yeah

The new machine sounds badass, but I think it's gettin to be a bit much. It's gotta get warmer than it should. In my opinion, it's starting to break out of the notebook category like Dell's monstrous 20 in desktop/laptop thing.

At least it stayed at 12 pounds. :p

I'm happy with my 9750, though a third 100gb 7200 harddrive would be nice. :)

    Hmmh....thats dissappointing.

The 7950 is not a dx10 GPU. Basically the NP9260 is really just a C2D upgrade.

IMO, I can't see why I would spend the money on a dx9 gpu when the dx10 is close and then having to fork out more money for the REAL dx10 upgrade down the road which prolly means: new mobo, new power supply and GPUS...and we know its more than $600-$800 when this happened with the 7xxx upgrades the D900X. Given that its SLI, double those figures easily.

    I would just wait.

I would not mind buying it since the most important thing for me is to be able to effectively upgrade the card to an 8800 or a future 8800 GTX.

The downside of this solution for me as that I don't care that much for SLI or Extreme CPU on an notebook, since it requires more energy, makes the notebook evier, runs hoter and I suspect that for sure will be noisier (Jumbo type after an year of use).

So waiting for an upgrade of the 570u seams the sensible choice for me. Not supporting SLI or Extreme CPUs thought. But it depends how long it will take to come out as I need a notebook to replace my tablet PC desperatly.

Holy Moly thickness!!! And this thing is slimmer than the D900K? My shoulder hurts just looking at it. When you start from the front you say wow not bad. But a peek at the side and the back would stop me from buying it lol.

    Damn nice specs though.

Looks absolutely perfect for me , I just want to replace my clapped out desktop, do not intend to carry it around anyway.

If I was to go any bigger in a lappy than my M570U, then I would want it to have at least a 19 inch wuxga lcd...preferably the 20 inch or bigger even! Like owning a folding iMac!!
