Sager has on their website a new driver for the Nvidia 8800 GTX card, NV174.90. I have tried it and so far TechPowerUp GPU shows no under-clocking at all. So far it seems they have only updated the driver for Vista.
Download the driver for your 8800 from here:

Just idle speculation on my part (hey, it's late
), but after the SP3 update on XP, it may be that the _Vista driver will function on XP? Anyone think that's a truly daft idea?
-
-
After installing it my Vista index went from 5.9 down to 5.5 so I put back the old one.
-
Dude, forget about the damn index!
try the games or a 3dmark test! -
No underclock with this driver even if using the older BIOS? .07s?
-
I love when people get happy off the WEI and then complain when the games aren't performing as such.
-
I'm having problems as expressed here.
-
Hmm...I'm ordering my laptop later tonight. Think it'll ship with this new driver? Should I want it to?
-
the lasted nvidia driver support all video cards driver is with modded inf very good but in the driver have archive original-inf that contain all original inf for this driver that include clevo inf

Else, you can always update to what's available on the SagerNotebook or LaptopVideo2Go site!
-
does anyone have nything good to say about the driver? hows it work?
-
It's great!
-
better then 167.44?
im doiwnloading it right now -
-
Haven't received the one from GanstaOne yet... I was talking about 174.90 ... better than the older official 167.44 driver !
But 175.70 is cool too, using that now!
-
where did you get 175.70?
im trying to stick to the fficial drivers.. just in my opnion i dont wanna deal with the other problems and be a tester.. -
or did u getit from laptopvideo2go?
-
LaptopVideo2Go... get their drivers from their forum. This is the particular one I'm talking about...
No need to get that... the latest 174.90 official driver is great... The newer 175.xx series drivers are so far AFAIK meant for 3DMark Vantage optimization... However 175.63 onwards drivers solve the 8800M GTX downclocking issue, so I hear. -
does the 174.90 from sager downclock the 8800m gtx?
-
ok so i just installed 174.90 and my computer seems to be going ALOT slower. from starting up games to using the fingerprint reader
idk why that would happen? and also, the hotkey icon in the system tray is taking alot longer to start then it usually does, about 3-5 minutes longer. this is just my experience with this new driver -
did you follow the method to clean out the old drivers first??
-

OMG. OMG. OMG. O.....O.......uh... durrr
Sweetness, I had gotten tired of constantly checking the update page and just then, they update the driver!
Thanks for the head up! -
yea i used driver sweaper
-
so does this have the downclocking issues?
-
-
So did anyone do a head to head comparisson with older drivers? In games, I mean.
-
Ok, so I've been using the 174.90 from Sager for a few days now.
I'm running Vista 64 with SLI.
I'm no longer getting the message "blah blah video driver failed and recovered" when coming back from Sleep mode that I got with the 2 previous Sager drivers that support SLI.
However, I do still get the driver failed and recovered message when switching back or forth between the LCD and an external CRT monitor (at different res), using the Fn+F7 hotkey. Although when booting up with the external monitor I got no warning message, but then booting up on LCD again after shutting down on external monitor I got a warning message too.
So very minor as I don't switch often and it doesn't cause me to crash, but hope they address it in future. Note I used to get this same warning message when switching on previous drivers as well as returning from Sleep mode (which is not happening now).
Overall the driver's been great, no downclocking or other issues. -
Well, 174.90 still downclocks my card...I'm using 175.70 as it is the most stable non downclocking driver for me

sbios 1.00.08, vbios 62.92.23.00.14 any drivers post 167.55 and pre 175.63 downclock it
I've also tried vbios .12 and it came with .a3 and they all do it, it also came with sbios .07, so nothing seems to change it -
thats wierd... the 1.00.08 bios is supposed to fix that underclocking issue i thought....
-
yea i have the .08 bios and have NEVER experienced any sort of downclocing
-
I spoke too soon. I still get the driver failed and recovered message when returning from sleep mode sometimes:/
-
Why do people use sleep mode? I have never used it lol
-
novak what model is yours?? nevermind i see it on the last page now you have a 901c correct??
-
it seems the original (1st release) 8800's could experience downclocking no matter what bios they use
-
dang... how do u know if u have a 1st release 8800? hehe.
-
when did you get the comp? I got mine beginning of jan, anytime after that should be ok. otherwise try installing a 174.5 upwards driver and see if it downclocks
-
dang it... i got mine beginning of january too around january 8th.... i swear to god if i update my bios to .08s and still have downclock issues im gonna be so pissed off - i may have to send it back to sager and have them put a new one in. yah it shipped jan. 10.
-
-
-
hmm i just recieved the card as a upgrade and it has bios .14 on the gpu. i have not seen any downclocking yet though.. i believe the date on my gpu was april 08 though on the white sticker..i would guess this is when it was shipped not when it was made though..
-
Yeah i have one of the earlier 8800's ( received my laptop jan 6th i beleive) and no matter what system bios ( .07, all three .08's) with/without video bios (a3, .12, .14) and any driver beside stock with any set of those combinations, and i tried so darn many, downclock my video card.
At the moment i have quit trying new drivers.
Hey theriko what was a good set that didnt dc your card? -
Of course now I am horrified to even try updating my drivers, because I dont have the stock 167.44 driver to fall back too if it fails and downclocks... Does anyone have the original sager 167.44 that I can have in case new drivers do downclock and I needa re-install the 167.44?
(grrr i always get gimped machines!!!) -
Dude, you should have it on the CD that came with the laptop...
-
I'm getting this error now:
http://i31.tinypic.com/s3fqqx.jpg -
Or on the sager website... Anyway I use 175.70 as the d/c'ing was fixed on the 175.63 and up. Hopefully we should see the fix on the 174 series (or whatever comes next as 174 is almost finished) soon
-
@MrProim, what driver version and are you o/c'ing the 8800?
