Hi guise! I am about to acquire either a Sager NP8150 or NP8170 but I am determined to downgrade the screen to a 1600x900 (which by the way no seller offers. Malibal ridiculously agreed on the downgrade if I paid $200 for it)
the thing is, I don't know which models will "fit"
I would rather get a matte screen, but it is imperative that it must be a 1600x900 or even lower res (not lower than 720p) and so far I've only had one option for the NP8170, order from laptopscreen.com but I've read in here on the forums to avoid, as they will most likely send a screen I didn't order, so now what's left is to look for the screens by their manufacturer model or SKU... when I go to laptopscreen.com they don't say which model will fit, they only "show" it to you in their Sager NP8170 compatible screens page. As for the NP8150 I haven't found anything yet.
Can anyone help please? I plan to order pretty soon.
Thanks!

Depending on the graphics card you plan on getting consider the NP8130, its currently available with a 1600x900. If the GTX 560M is good for you then you should really consider it.

The LG LP156WD1 is the 1600x900 display used in the Dell Latitude E6520.
The LG LP156WF1 is the 1920x1080 display used in the Dell Latitude E6520.
The LG LP156WF1 and AUO B156HW01 V# are interchangeable. (because the LP156WF1 is often shipped by dishonest LCD resellers to customers who ordered B156HW01 V# variants.)
The AUO B156HW01 V# is used in the NP8130/P151HM1 and NP8150/P150HM.
Therefore, assuming no differences in cables or variations in connector location over varying models of the screens, the LG LP156WD1 should be compatible.
Also don't get a 1366x768 screen, or 17.3" 1600x900 screen. Image quality will be awful. -
Oh hello there, Hutsady from Xotic, I am actually considering Xotic among my sellers, glad to know from you.
I actually plan on either HD 6990M or GTX 580. -

grossemesser, with those GPU options the 8130 is out
Your best bet would be the NP8150 and looking into the screens edit1754 suggested or going with the option you've found for the 8170 -
Thanks again! -
But do you guys think it's advisable to buy from laptopscreen.com? I've read otherwise in the forums.
Sorry @Hutsady you mentioned 8130, but I am interested in 8150 and 8170 -
And keep in mind that 17.3" 1920x1080 displays don't quite make text as small as 15.6" 1920x1080 displays. -
you say 17.3" 1600x900 is real bad, but I actually feel is quite good, I owned a G73 with such resolution and it was perfect... well for me. I am willing to sacrifice for the sake of performance. -
LaptopScreen.com is a Replacement supplier. As opposed to an Upgrade supplier, they will sent you whatever is available to them at their prices.
It will work 100%, or they will take it back at no extra cost.
It is very important to not simply submit an order and pray you get the best possible scenario, instead just call them or PM me about a specific model you want, and get a confirmation that the model you want is the one that will be sent.
Quite frankly there are lots of positive and negative posts about LaptopScreen.com, but most negativity is the result of the misunderstanding - cheap prices means they reserve the prerogative to send you a fully working screen of their choosing. -
-
Well I've got my two screen options, either for 8150 or 8170... by the way, will laptopscreen.com supply any 1600x900 that will work in 8150? -
Replacement - when the customer breaks their screen, and need their computer working yesterday. They don't really take the time to research what's the best possible screen they can get.
Upgrade - when people go to forums (like this one) and ask for specific models based on their research and their specific requirements - Resolution, Contrast, Gama, Saturation - they don't necessarily have a broken screen, but rather want to have the best panel in their "baby"
Primarily such upgrades are a good memento to put in the forum signature, since they give a stackable 30% bonus to their e-peen size and free rep points at a rate of 1 pt/100 relative e-peen points/per post.
On a serious note, some people just want to correct some definitely unnecessary budget cuts, like putting 1366x768 panels with 60 degree viewing angles, non-existent contrast ratio, and a visible amount of colors you could count on one hand in to notebooks like G73-G74 or L501x/L502x.
So it is best to let any supplier know what exactly are you trying to do, since if you order from LaptopScreen.com (and most other LCD retailers) the default assumption is that you need a working screen to replace your broken one. -
Well, I'll be sure to contact you or any seller to clarify before ordering. -
Yes the speed would be affected, but the main difference is that the actual model and manufacturer you will receive will be a compatible model.
So to make sure you receive the exact model from any of the LCD retailers , call, and demand physical confirmation of the models in-stock.
Your phone conversation should go something along the lines of:
-Listen you, script reading button pushing monkey, get off your oversized lazy behind, walk over to the shelves and tell me the model numbers you have compatible with the model number of my laptop/screen. Yes all of the models, no I'm not joking. Yes really. Ok I'll hold.
However, depending on your attitude, and the mood of the front-liner, you might get an answer that they can't/won't/shouldn't do this, or you'll get a list of a couple-few models which they have on-hand.
Official policy is that LaptopScreen.com provides replacements and not a guaranteed identical panel.
You may get an exact panel for newer computers, but for 2 year or older computers original panels are as hard to find as parts for a 40 year old car.
If you are to order from LaptopScreen.com it's best to PM me for any specific models you are looking for, that way at least you'll be dealing with somebody who understands that some people look for LCD panels for other reasons than a replacement, and who is not going to assume that you are just another fairly computer-illiterate customer who's kids broke yet another computer. -
Getting a screen that's not exactly a certain brand, but that still works with my future laptop is not that bad. Maybe I'll change my mind and will insist on a certain specific model when I have it on my hands (advice from the forums beforehand) but for now, I think it's OK.
Believe me, I will PM you if ordering from laptopscreen.com, now I know I can count on you for these purposes, as, like you said; we both know what we are talking about.
I really really appreciate it. Thanks!
Sager screen replacement.
