    Hello,

Seriously leaning toward this NP8173-S1 over a Giabyte and a MSI machines, but know nothing about Sager/Clevo.

Can someone tell me what their screens are generally like? Build quality? Machine looks ugly as sin but pretty slim. Any feedback?

I've seen a couple, it's pretty run of the mill for a G-Sync screen. Nothing special but no complaints. Didn't have the IPS glow I'm used to, don't know if that was because it's an exceptional panel or because panel manufacturers have fixed that though.

For Windows-based consumer-class notebooks, it's a tie between Sager/Clevo and Razer for best build quality. MSI and Gigabyte/Aorus wouldn't be too far behind, though. Across the board, I would place Apple at #1.

That being said, no brand mentioned above exceeds the business-class machines you can buy from Dell, HP, or Lenovo, but obviously they're not tailored for enthusiasts.

Man do I hate the IPS glow. This is good to hear.

Uh Razer wins that. I've had two of them next to each other. I would put Clevo near the top with GT series MSI machines though. Definitely not a slacker, but the Razer Blade is literally the Macbook of gaming laptops and like the only one with unibody aluminum. Build on those things feels incredible.

Yeah, Razer takes the top spot, without a doubt. I'd say Alienware comes in second, my AW 15 r2 is rock solid and feels great. Not hating on Clevo since I have one (back)ordered, but the build isn't nearly as good as Alienware. I would rank them:

    1. Razer
    2. Alienware
    3. Clevo, MSI
    4. Asus

I have owned all of the above, so I can't reliably speak to any of the others' build qualities.

I guess they are built great but there's like no reason to buy them right now. Cooling is just ok, they have no GSync and atm old gen cards. A Clevo as thick as an Alienware has a desktop cpu.

Agreed. I currently own the top of the line AW (15r2, 4k, 6820hk, 980m 8gb) model, but it's going on eBay whenever my Sager np8153-S shows up. The Sager checks all the boxes for me except for keyboard. My Alienware keyboard is easily the best I have ever used on a laptop.

Dell Latitudes have been my favorite, so much travel and so solid.

Razer, alienware, MSI/clevo, Asus. I've never owned or seen a clevo in the wild. That is based on what Ive seen and read
