Hey guys try doing the search and google to see if anyone had a post about this. My friend bought a computer from xotic about maybe 1-3months ago dont really remember its a 15inch sager either np6652 or np7352. So when he turns on the computer it takes a really long time to even hit the splash screen for the bios then starts up to the os normally. Just the bios is having a problem. Now this is what he tells me I am going to go look at it tomorrow, but before I do anything any recommendations from the computer vets here?

I plan to remove ram and put it back and discharge computer. See if that helps go into bios and see what it has setup. The other thing im thinking of doing is removing cmos and then doing a bios upgrade/flash to a new version? any other advice?

what MrDJ said. also, make sure to test the boot speed without any usb sticks or peripherals of any kind connected to the laptop, see if that makes any difference.

All perfectly sound troubleshooting steps! Final resort after these would be to look into a BIOS update ─ although that should not really be a "fix" for a delayed POST.

When it POST most of that has nothing to do with the other hardware pieces, maybe just the RAM. As you planned on you can try reseating them or trying one stick of RAM at a time. You can also get Memtest86 PassMark MemTest86 - Memory Diagnostic Tool to test the RAM. If its a single bad stick we can swap one of those out.

Possibly RAM, or possibly a corrupt BIOS, though the latter is seldom. EC reset might resolve it.

Finnally got a chance to get my hands on the laptop. He said sometimes it takes 1hr 30 to post he said today it took 15min. So i took both ram out and put one in each slot. It literally turned on then off immediatly. It did this with either ram but when both are together it starts up but doesn't post. So i take one of my extra ram put it in put in each slot turns on then turns off. I am lost. I told him to give xotic a call maybe they can figure something out he most likely has to rma unless they do like a step by step then i can do it for him, but told him if I do a bios upgrade it may or may not fix the problem + hes under warranty so he said hell give them a call to see whats up.

Our tech support will walk you through steps to help trouble shoot. If it cant be figured out a RMA would be the next step.

Yeah, be careful about taking measures too far into your own hands while it's still covered. Support shouldn't walk you through anything that would otherwise kill your warranty, so a quick call should be a first resort.
