I spoke with someone at Xotic PC earlier today, and they claimed that they should start shipping out NP5790s by the end of the day if all goes according to plan. I probably ordered mine too late, but if you ordered early, you might be in luck.

Wow, sounds good! The Sager and Compal forums must be the only group of people who have laptops but don't actually have them yet. ;)

It will come...and those 5790s sure look good! :)

If I order a Sager NP5790 from xoticpc or powernotebooks, when can I expect it to ship out?

also...is it just me or does the orange trim make the laptop look so ugly...or in the pictues anyway, I hope it doesn't look so bad in real life.

i think that it makes a nice accent that you don't find with many other laptops on the market.

I thought this would be the best place for me to post my question.

I am very much interested in purchasing a Eurocom M570RU Divine-X laptop. I am however not much of a gamer. While I am interested in playing some games, I never really go through with it. At most I play are emulators, and maybe RTCW:ET and the possbility of some Blizzard games as well.

My main objective is to have my laptop run quiet, and cool...and well keeping present day tech as well would be nice.

So my question is...which would run quieter and cooler...the 7950GTX or 8700?

    Thanks guys

They will be so close to the same that you could not really tell the difference.

hmm now i have to think whether or not the 45$ cost to "upgrade" the Nvidia 7950GTX to the 8700 GT is warranted

i like 256bit graphics, but will i do anything that requires that...who knows

for video watching, which would you choose...i mean the results uptop speak for themselves but does that mean games, video, etc etc?

For watching videos they both would perform exactly the same. Actually I believe for watching HD videos the 8700GT might perform a tad better, especially if you get a slow processor. However in general video watching doesn't stress the GPU nearly enough for you to notice a difference. The only major differences would be running games in high res or with high or ultrahigh texture details, or with real time 3d AutoCAD type applications.

I think what the table in the 1st post in this thread is trying to tell you is that unless you absolutely NEED DX10, the 7950 GTX will outperform the 8700M...so there would be no reason to pay extra for the 8700M.

I would definitely go with the 8700M-GT - it will most likely consume less power and therefore produce less heat than the Go 7950GTX. The 8M series Nvidia cards will handle the video decoding themselves so that should improve efficiency even more. The 8M series is much better for video watching than the Go 7 series from a power consumption/ CPU utilization point of view.

Thanks guys for all your help.

So I guess, to future-proof my laptop, and because I am not much of a gamer, I will go with the 8700M-GT.

I am also opting for the built in TV-Tuner. I'm not expecting any night and day difference between the two cards, but technically the 8700M-GT should do a "better" job with the TV-Tuner eh?

I should be getting a laptop to review that has an 8700M-GT so I will provide some gaming benchmarks when it arrives.
