Hello,
I am new to this forum but it seems to be packed with useful information so here I am. First off, my Dad has owned Sagers since the mid 90s and always had good luck with them, therefore Im looking at purchasing a Sager NP9150. It seems to have all the options I really like/want and has the ability to last me a long time. My largest concern is who they use for shipping. I am a mechanic and a lot of the parts that we get that come from UPS have highly damaged packaging. Boxes look like they have been used in playing football or something. Are there any resellers that use a different shipping company? If I am going to spend this kind of money I really dont want a damaged unit out of the box. Secondly, Which seems to be a better buy, the NP9150 or Alienware's M15x? Many of my friends have suggested Alienware but Im just not sure how the two match up. Any thoughts and or suggestions would be great.

We use UPS for shipping and have done so for quite some time. We rarely have any issue whatsoever with any damage to the package. Most resellers will also ship the machine fully insured as an extra precaution in the off chance the unthinkable happens. You also generally have the option of using USPS or sometimes even DHL and FedEx. Contact your reseller about the possible options available and what they recommend and as to why. You should be safe with UPS though.

But I can say my Sager arrived without a scratch, perfect shape. -

As Derek noted, the packages are insured (after all, you're spending quite a bit of money on an item), so hopefully that takes some of the concern out of the matter. Alas, nearly all - if not, all - resellers use UPS or USPS (the latter usually done by request). FedEx handles a degree of volume for shipments as well, although the majority of shipments are handled via UPS.
Stacking the Alienware and the Sager against one another, I'd say the Sager is more powerful (not to mention the 15x is no longer in production). -

As regards to the M15X then it's getting quite long in the tooth now with the first generation of core i7 and only sold second hand.
The only two upgradable 15" models come from Clevo/sager and MSI. -
