Hi guys,
I recently ordered an Alienware m15x, but after reading a few threads on their forum, am beginning to have second thoughts about it. I basically want to cancel my order. As a replacement (and a gaming rig) I am looking at getting the NP5793 as a replacement. I work on the rigs, so weight is a slight issue, so have ruled out the NP9262. Just wanting to know from people who own the NP5793, or any Sager, what its like as a gaming laptop with the X9000 and 8800GTX 4GB RAM? And what is their customer service like? I have been trying get ahold of an Alienware rep to get an estimated delivery date for my rig, but havent heard back in a week... so if their service is this ****e, then im worried and want to cancel it before its too late... Also, will Sager deliver to Australia? Thanks guys.

Hey!
Thanx for the rep in the AW forums..
All i want to say now apart from that is : PREPARE FOR AW PWNAGE
You just entered into AW Killzone
Oh btw... there are several sager resellers like Xotic PC(USA),Novatech(UK),Eurocom(Canada) that all offer great deals and yes im pretty sure they deliver to Aus... oh btw i like Xotic so imo id push for them...oh btw Xotic also has a 75$ discount on their RAM upgrade for this month just fyi
Gaming on the 5793 is great by most accounts here(no major heat issues if thats what you mean)..
Oh btw... i am going to get the 5793 myself hence im a big fan -
First of all, people prefer the m15x for mobility... having a 8800M GTX in a 15.4" form factor... but that domination too is soon about to change!
However, if you are happy with a 17", then the Sager NP5793 provides the perfect balance of mobility and power, while also negating certain issues that the m15x is currently facing!
If you're ready to order from US, then I would recommend www.xoticpc.com They're a great reseller and very well reputed and will give great prices (3% cash discount as well)!Check them out at www.resellerratings.com I'm sure there are Australian resellers as well... look up the Clevo resellers thread in this sub-forum.
As far as performance goes, look up Chaz's review of the Sager NP5793 with the X9000 CPU!
The international delivery charge from XoticPC is $223. And I would once again recommend the Sager over other rebranded resellers from Australia (assuming they're not sagers) because Sager is also offering a discount on RAM upgrade... but I guess that's negated since you're ordering from US then...
Either way, that's my opinion. Good decision and best of luck!

And yea Chaz's review of the 5793(just like other reviews of his) was quite comprehensive and helpful if you want to know about the 5793.... -
Yes... the UPS international delivery option is $289... but unlike USPS, it has order tracking!
So $223 from USPS is minimum for international...

Cheers Prasad007, just having a look at XoticPc now from yours and Sarges recommendations. Have to say some of the artwork looks awesome, and if i order from them will defo be getting it done. Yeah, you can get UPS instead of USPS(?), its 50bux more expensive, is it worth going for that instead? I'm just emailing them now to get some info before i make my decision. Cheers for th help fellas!

Yes... when you're placing an order, you'll be allowed to select your delivery option
I would say UPS with the extra bucks is worth it, considering you can track your order. Besides that, XoticPC sales rep, Justin W, himself tells me that there have been problems with USPS in the past and that they officially recommend UPS shipping.... So I would steer clear of them and go with UPS!

223$ is a bit too much, considering that Eurocom offers FedEx for 177 or so and RJ Tech offers USPS for 150$ (around).
-
Let's not forget how absolutely beautiful these 1920 x 1200 glossy screens are. I can't go back to a lower resolution anymore.
-
The sweet lights are not worth the hefty premium. Clevo/Sager FTW.
-
I'd go with USPS. You can get package tracking, they also have a few levels of service, find out which one the seller uses before making a final decision.
There's no guarantee with UPS, they're perfectly capable of messing up delivery of your new toy, and if they really do botch the job filing a claim will be a nightmare (yes, even if you buy their 'insurance'). -
Again? Isn't this a little tiresome?
-
New thread with case stress cracks...OUCH...Save money and go Clevo/Sager unless the Alien FX is a must have!
-
In case you guys did not know, the m15x is overheated. Gets to about 85-90C sometimes in full Load. That mean a faster death.
In comparisson, the 5793 gets to about max 70 C. Mine only reaches 66C in crysis and portal -
man even when i OC the gpu and CPU my thermals, most of the time, never get above 62C, but with the same OC ( cpu & gpu) in 3dmark i can get up to the upper 60's. Never 70's though. This laptop is far-and-away has the best thermal design I have ever seen.

I am typing this on my 5793 which I've had for 2 weeks now. I LOVE this notebook. It is AMAZINGLY sturdy and blazes through Crysis on 1400x1200 resolution all settings high 2xAA. Fantastic notebook. xoticpc.com treated me great too! Go for it - you wont be disappointed.

Shouldnt it be the other way around?
I though USPS = unreliable and UPS = reliable -
Yes, it's the other way around.
