Can any reseller compare the fan noise of the P150EM to the fan noise of the Asus G55? I've heard wonders about how quiet and well the cooling on the Asus G series is. I've also heard how noisy the fans on the P150EM can be. Is there any way someone could compare the two?

I know xotic and powernotebooks carry both clevo and asus, maybe you should ask them in the questions to resellers thread. From what I know, the G5* is louder than it's 17 inch bro, and there are a lot of people who aren't very good at telling how loud a decibel is. Basically, it's going to be closer than comparing the P150EM review to a G73SW would have you believe. If you want to compare them for yourself, you can probably see them side-by-side at a best buy or something (I know they have asus, don't know about clevo).

i think you should go check out the asus one in person, cause different people have a different perception of what loud actually is. I personally dont have a clevo,so i cant really comment on that. maybe someone with the newer models would be able to help you.

Interesting... that's some nice info. I didn't know a whole lot about that site so that helps a bunch. The only thing is, that's the G75 and I've read that the G55 runs louder than the G75 so I'm still pretty curious. I suppose that the 150EM and G55 can't be that far apart then... Thanks for the help, I'll surely rep you.

I have been wondering about this too. I hate unnecessary noise, but I am interested in the NP9170. I would go with the ASUS though, if it got optimus and was significantly quieter than the NP9170.

We run Furmark on our laptops for 10 minutes to make sure the GPU holds up and so we can get a rough, max expected temp for our systems before they are shipped out. -

The Sager is going to be a touch louder under heavy loads but keep in mind the Asus uses the lower end graphics cards and they bury the components to keep the noise down.
The trade off with the Sager is, although slightly louder under loads, it is also very easy to work on and access everything because the parts are all right there.
We aren't talking airplanes taking off or hairdryers going full bore on either model, but about the level of a quiet conversation at best. -
And how about temps? cuz the notebookcheck review shows really high temps on 150EM and g75 seems really cold...
That really worries me about 150em -

G75VW-DS73-3D (GTX-670M) = 88C and another with 89C (IC Diamond)
G55VW-DS71 (GTX-660M) = 93C (stock thermal paste from Asus)
Sager NP9170 (GTX-675M) = 95C and another at 97C (stock thermal paste applied by Sager)
Please keep in mind, all cards are are tested harder with Furmark than in a normal, typical gaming environment.
So I wouldn't say the Asus is running "ice cold" compared to the others from what we have observed. -
