Working on installing a SSD in my NP8760. I realized that I do not have a recover/install DVD. I'm pretty sure I never got one. I remember when I got my machine in February looking and not finding a disk. I assumed that it was like my previous Gateway that had a recovery partition on the HD. At any rate, I recently contacted Sager to inquire how do I restore if I my attempt to install the SSD fails and the OS is kaput. Sager responded that I use the Recovery disk, and If I don't have one, that I must have lost it. (Now I have everything that came with the machine including the crappy carrying case) Sager tells me, $15 for a disk and $15 for shipping. Am I the only one who finds this expensive for shipping a DVD from LA to LA?

    What OS do you have?

Windows 7 does have a "create a recovery disk" from the backup menu in control panel. (maybe vista too?)

Why dont you create a image file with Acronis true image
If it fails installing just image the drive again thats what I've
    been doing for now on.
    Works great.

i think you get the OEM windows recovery disc and a driver disc.
had to pay extra for a internal backup/recovery with acronis which is on a hidden partition. not sure if its the same for the usa.

As long as you have a genuine windows license sticker on your machine, you can download a disc image for windows (make sure you get an oem version) and reinstall it that way.

Or you can do ghost if you have it. Really stable and never failed on me. Never tried HDD to SSD so not sure if it'll work.

Yeah, the Windows 7 built-in imaging and recovery is really nice. I actually dumped paying for Ghost at work when we went to Windows 7 because its easy to use and does the same thing.
