I have been told that Sager does not sell directly to the public. Is that correct? If so, whom is sagernotebook.com? Are then authorized resellers?

That is sager. But best to buy from a reseller. Better price and they go to bat for you if you have warranty issues. More st of the sager resellers come highly recommended. The list of bad resellers is much shorter that the good ones. Maybe somebody else can chime in who to stay away from.

Thank you for the info. My insurance adjuster claimed that they were quoted $1800 for a replacement for my P157SM-Special Edition w/32 GB RAM, 2x 120 mSATA SSDs and BluRay, DVDRW from that site.

Sager does sell to the public as you see on their site, maybe the person who told you that meant Clevo as they do not.

go for a reseller like xoticpc, prostar, power notebooks, mythlogic or lpc digital.

most have reps on here that are not biased and will offer advice to anyone.

I think it was more just fact checking for insurance rather than shopping just now but as Hutsady mentioned it's likely clevo that was meant who actually make the machines for sager who don't sell direct to the public.

For further clarification: Sager is a reseller; they resell Clevo laptops. I think Meaker hit it on the head in saying that it sounds like it was just fact checking, especially since Sager sets baseline pricing.

Mythlogic is not a re-seller. They are one of the few builders. They get the Clevo shells and add components. Just clarifying..
