its actually better for the laptop to have their batteries detached.

Slight correction...it's better for the BATTERY to have the battery detached.

You'll have a wobbly notebook without the battery installed, but the battery will last longer if it is removed when not in use, and the notebook may run a bit cooler, too.

Also, it is arguably beneficial for the battery if it is stored in a somewhat cooler location.

There will probably be a simple sliding latch which detaches the battery.

My 5793 does not run cooler with the battery detached, probably because all the heat creating parts (cpu, gpu, hd) are on the opposite side of the notebook. Also, when the battery is in the slot, it remains very cool, and barley gets warm after charging for a while. I bought 2 batteries for my 5793 so I could leave one in all the time (excellent protection against power outages) and I use my second one for untethered use (don't forget to pop it in and fully charge before going mobile because batteries slowly discharge over time.)

I dunno about the sager, but on my nx9420 I NEVER removed the battery and after 2 years it`s still packing 1.5 hours on max performance and about 2 h+on minimum light and max battery life.
If you really really care that much for long lasting battery life, sure, remove it,keep it in a cool, dry place, not the fridge.
But I also use my battery as a UPS and if I want to move the laptop around the house. That`s why its a laptop after all.

I also use my battery as a UPS, so I don't remove it...

i shoulda buy a secondary Battery and the main one stay UPS (very nice idea :))
but the question stands still : is there a way to preserve the battery :( ?

Why would you buy a laptop if you always keep it plugged in?
A battery is like 100$. Keep it inside,it`s not like losing 5-10 min a year from the battery life will make you regret buying a laptop :D

It`s meant to work regardless if you use it 5 mins a day or 24/7. But 24/7 is not indicated since the heat can acumulate.

Well from my own experience, my old FS Xi1546, which I had for 1½ year, lost about 5% of its batterylife during that time, according to Notebook Hardware Control. I did never take out the battery or did anything special to perserve it :)

I would say I used it quite a lot, tho not 24/7, also I almost only used the battery as a UPS, rarely running it on battery for much longer than 30 minutes at a time.

Some batteries have a smart sensor that does not allow them to overcharge. However, it seems the one on the RU doesn`t have one. It`s always at 100%, whereas the one in my nx9420 never went above 99%.

That FS machine did also always charge to 100%, atleast as far as I remember :p

But well, as long as the battery will last through the life of the lappy, with atleast 1 hour of battery life im fine :)

If you are going to remove the battery which is recomended(my spelling sucks, but hey maybe I got it right this time) Post It notes work great to keep the notebook sitting level. Espically on te 579x series where a foot is on the battery.

Actually, there is a small sturdy plastic tab on the bottom next to the battery compartment that keeps the laptop level when the battery is removed.

I don't think the plastic tab balance the notebook (at least mine doesn't...)
Anyway, I take my battery out when I know I won't be moving it for a few days. In order to stop it from "rocking back and forth" I put some yellow note pad under it on top of my notebook cooler. ;)

With the 5793 chasis, the tab is almost at the same level with the feet. It certainly works as a foot when the battery is out, if that's not what it's for.
