I have my new 9170 being delivered today, and I was wondering if when I install my 830 into it, do I need to have a bracket or spacers or something? Someone on the forum told me I do need something, while a rep from Xotic told me I did not. Can I just make one myself?

I just installed one in mine, and no, you do not. The primary bay comes with a bracket, and the secondary is a slimmer bay with enough support. So regardless of where you want to put the SDD (both slots are SATA III), you'll be fine.
