    Hey all,

Anyone else trying to save the 7970M vBios? I believe can save some time with OC'ing at least if we can get the vBios and modify it and unlock the OverDrive for example.

You can extract it from ram where its loaded, but you can't read or write to the BIOS chip itself with ATIFLASH or ATIWINFLASH.

So if there is ever a new vBios, we will have to RMA our notebooks to Sager/Builder to have it updated?

And why is the 6xxx series from Clevo had the OverDrive unlocked but for the 7970M locked?

what about this vbios flash tool by svl7?

Vbios Patcher - releases & changelog

edit: maybe it just supports the dell version of the 7970m *dayum*

    It's not a flash tool, it's a vbios editor ;)

You don't for now, manually programming (removing it and putting it in a programmer) the chip is the only current option. Or getting it in another system where it can be flashed.

Not tested, since we can't flash the vBios yet. Using ATIFlash, it won't even recognize that the 7970M exists in DOS.

hm, looks like well have to wait for compatible tools to come along then.... too bad, this would bind us HM users to vendors equipped with modded vBIOS cards :(

It finds it for me, but can't identify the kind of ROM it is.

Maybe we need another petition to get clevo to unlock our VBIOSes or provide a flashing tool.

lol, actually this has also already come up concerning being able to manually switch off enduro like on aw machines :p but im aware that thats not possible cuz of the way the gpus/mux are laid out.

hmmm...i wonder if the modded vbios could also help out EM users with their enduro problems? or would that cause the system to turn unbootable?

I'd just like to stop using Afterburner is all since Afterburner won't activate unless I open up MSI Kombuster first which is a hassle. Personally I really like OverDrive since I don't plan on overvolting ever. It works very well for me on my G73JH.

If you map afterburner as high performance it ahould open up by itself.

I did, but doesn't work. I have to open Kombuster first (not run), and then Afterburner works.

yeah heard that several times before. apparently the 7970M needs some load on the core to be recognized by afterburner  so glad i wont have all those issues on my machine without switchable graphics :p
