    Hi guys,

When you guys ordered laptops from xoticpc or any other reseller, how much sales tax did you guys pay on the laptop? Do you have any reseller for whom you do not have to pay it? Any way to save it ?

I just chatted with an Alienware agent and they tell me that i'll have to pay like $130 tax on a laptop that costs like $1899

For us as long as you are not in Nebraska there is NO Sales Tax for any of our Sager/ASUS/MSI or AW laptops.

For LPC-Digital, there is always NO TAX unless you are in Nevada. :)

Just a point of clarification here for US based customers...

There IS a tax for each and every laptop sold by anyone in the USA. However, it is merely a matter of reporting that is being referred to here.

As things stand right now in the current tax code, when you purchase *anything* on the web, including a laptop, a tax is created. Now, if the seller has a PHYSICAL present in the state of which you primarily reside, that seller, by law, collects sales tax.

If the seller does NOT have a physical presence in your state, the seller does NOT collect sales tax. However, there is still a tax on the purchase. It is called a use tax. It is then up to the purchaser to record that use tax on their own tax returns.
