@sicily428—looks like the Clevo N240BU. Pretty standard ultrabook, MacBook Air type of machine.

Give me Ryzen 7 and an MXM 3.0A GTX 1050 Ti...

    I think that a laptop like a w650kk1 with a i7-7700 or a Ryzen and a gtx1050ti/m2200 mxm 3.0a could be a really good laptop

The S306 is/was a TopStar chassis. The company hasn't actually closed, it's all pretty complicated and I can't divulge information about it in public.

But the VIA 14 is not a Clevo chassis, nor is it a Top Star chassis.....

Except you can open these types of machines and replace the ram/storage with standard parts.

How does this compare with the Schenker s306 performance-wise? In particular, how does i5 7y54 compare with i5 6200U?

I own the s306 for 5 months now and it has been very good so far. Office work is a breeze and I can even run some benchmarks overnight on a single core; I found that a turbo CPU frequency of 2.7 GHz can be maintained for hours as long as the laptop remains cool enough (which it does) and it is not used for anything else. If I remember correctly, the power (rate) during my benchmarks is around 11 W (with every other program closed), well, in any case, it is lower than the TDP of 15 W.

However, the TDP for i5 7y54 is set at 4.5 W, which is crazy low. I do not expect that this will have an impact on office work, but it may render some mild benchmarking impossible.

    Any thoughts?

The 7Y54 is a little faster than the 6200U in single threaded benchmarks, around 15% slower in multi threaded benchmarks - this would translate reasonably accurately to real world usage. It is a difference, but it's not like either laptop is designed to break benchmarks. You're talking about unzipping a file that takes a minute on the 6200U taking 50 seconds with the 7Y54 - if anyone is really hitting the CPU with heavy batch editing for example then an HQ or K CPU is where you want to be ;-)

Thank you for your answer :)

It is certainly not a benchmarking laptop, but for the kind of benchmarking that I perform, where I just need stable turbo frequency on a single core for some tens of minutes, it is more than enough. Judging by the results in single threaded benchmarks ( http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-7Y54-vs-Intel-Core-i5-6200U/m193628vsm36796), it seems to me that the 7Y54 is indeed capable of maintaining turbo frequency on a single core for some tens of minutes. Do you have perhaps hands-on experience to verify that?
