Below are the examples of the screen flickering issue:

My laptop has two display drivers: Intel HD Graphics 630 and Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060. When I plug my laptop into another screen, the 1060 is activated and I notice no flickering options. This makes me think the problem is related to the Intel Graphics adapter. Even more so when I use Nvidia Control Panel and tell it to use the 1060 on FireFox(which sometimes cause the issue).

I have downloaded the latest driver from December 2018 and still have this problem. What are my options? I'm on Windows 10 just to note.

Did you try adjusting the screen hinge and see if it fixes the issue. If it doesn't, use DDU to remove intel driver and install latest one.

How would I go about adjusting the screen hinge?

Just nudge the screen from behind a gentle tap. Or you can adjust the screen with lower angles to see if it fixes flickering.
    75% I think its a driver issue and 25% a hardware issue.

Okay I tried adjusting and uninstall and installing new Intel drivers. So far everything seems good aside from one instance of a quick flash so I guess for now I"m good.

Great. So it was a driver issue?

I have this issue too sometimes and someone else had a detailed thread. Not sure if it's the same but it could be the display cable. Whenever I readjust the cable, the issue goes away... for a while.

If you want to secure a cable use kapton or electrical tape over it to help.

Took the laptop apart and physically moved it around. It had a really sharp bend near the connector on the motherboard (it's the fat black cable coming in from the hinge, motherboard port is close to the CPU right next to the CPU fan). Also pulled it in about 1cm from the hinge so that there was more leeway on the mobo side. Had to remove CPU fan and heatsink assembly for that.

Looks like I may have to do that. The problem seems to be returning.

It keeps coming back for me as well... I think it's one of those things that may need a whole new cable or it will only ever be a short term fix. :(

If the cable has suffered damage and is on the brink then there is not much you can do.

My Prostar computer has only been a year half old. I believe I'm still under warranty since I recall a three years repair warranty. Guess I could always have them check it out.

Hey Shadow Cloud. Definitely let us know about the issue if you're still in warranty (or even if you're out of warranty). You can ask me questions about the RMA process here or contact us through our site to get the ball rolling.

Well I replaced the display cable that connects the board to the screen. It seems to be working so far with no screen flickering. Was a bit of a nuisance and took longer than I thought, but I hope this will fix the problem.

Yes just re-seating it is easy but it is a bit buried for replacement .

Oh boy I wonder if I mess up something because it feels like the fan(near the display cable) is running more constant now. This piece(circled in red) here is now slightly lifted up when I was re-seating the display cable. Could it be due to that?

Those are the CPU cooling fins. If the heatsink is not sitting right then the CPU could be making poor contact to the heatsink. You could check by removing it and taking a picture of the pattern on the CPU and contact point on the heatsink left by the past.

I guess the issue I have is how do I put the heatsink and CPU cooling fins back to their original positions since they seem to be permanently lifted?

It would suggest the heatpipes are bent or the thermal pads are not sitting right.

Is there any of kind of paste to hold it back in place? Like should I be using IC Diamond? When I was putting in the new cable. I also took out the fan to clean it a bit and wonder if it's because of that I have this loud fan problem. I've attached pictures of my new issue.

I will try reseating the cable first, to see if the problem can be solved this way. Thank you!
