Laptop in sig. Lately I've noticed that my screen is darker than usual and the colors are off. Even at 80%+ brightness the screen can appear dark, whereas before 50% is more than bright enough. The colors seem faded at times too. I've checked and it's not the Intel power saving feature. What could be wrong?

Is it just as noticeable in the BIOS setup? (If yes, probably a faulty LCD or video cable.)

    Panels do dim over time

Also check your nvidia control panel settings haven't been messed up (restore them with DDU+reinstall)

you could also play in there with turning the brightness/contrast/gamma up to see if the panel can still do eyeball burning bright or not, that will help you rule in or out the hardware

I found the problem. My outlet has been turning on and off because of bad connection at the circuit breaker. The laptop was actually running on battery power when the panel dims. Also, it appears Intel's power saving settings gets stuck even after AC power comes back under certain conditions.

If it's rapidly flicking on and off you could confuse the software.
