Does anyone know if there's a better, higher quality, screen replacement for the P670HS? I'm considering one of these for daily use but the screen is major turn off. I'm ok with 1080p, but with an 8bit color gamut and 120hz, somehting like the MSI GT72VR 7RE has in it. I would prefer the 4k screen that is offered on the P775 that has 100% adobe RGB, but I'm not sure it'll work. Has anyone tested out a different screen in these or does anyone know the specs for the connector?

What screen have you got?
-
Not sure the exact model number of the screen, but whatever it comes standard with. No company offers a different screen for it so I want to try and find one that I can install myself.

It will work with any 30 pin eDP panel that physically fits in the machine though you will loose G-sync.
-
Why would I loose Gsync if the panel I replace it with is Gsync capable in other laptops?
Are you sure that any 30pin eDP will work? The first laptop I looked at was the Tornado F5 from Eurocom and was told that not all 40pin eDP panels will work due to the connectors being slightly different and why they couldn't upgrade me to a SHARP IGZO panel...unless they lied to me -

The nvidia system is setup so that each specific GPU/screen combo is white listed. Sometimes a BIOS update is needed if a later version had that screen as an option.
-
It's a shame the bios mod can't be purchased separately.
It really is ridiculous with Nvidia white listing it to different monitors. -

Well if it's only a matter of white listing, it's done to control the market at higher tiers.

Prostar Computer likes this. -
Sounds like it's done to control rogue suppliers. But they write the bios anyway.
Go figure.
