I literally just got my Lotus P151HM from Malibal delivered by UPS like 45 mins ago.

I carefully handled it, took everything out of the packaging, put in the battery, plugged in the ac adapter, and then I hit the power button.
The laptop seems to turn on but nothing comes up on the screen. It's as if the screen isn't plugged in or something.

Help me please! (I sent a ticket to Malibal, but I was wondering if anyone knew something I could do to fix it here)

Do you get a beep that it sounds like it's gotten past POST? If you think it sounds like it's actually turning on, trying hooking up an external monitor if you have one so you can rule out the display. If that doesn't work, the common issues that cause a non-functioning laptop on delivery are RAM or HDD that have been shaken loose in transit. An LCD ribbon cable being loose is possible as well, though not as common. You might want to open up the machine and re-seat the harddrive and RAM (the RAM will be under the keyboard if you only got two sticks).

    Thanks for replying.

There is no beep, but it sounds like the fans are on. The power button and wifi light is lit up also.

I tried hooking it up to my hdtv via hdmi cable and also tried reseating the HDD and RAM, but still nothing.

How would I go about checking to see if the LCD ribbon cable is loose?

omg it worked I probably didn't reinstall the ram right the first time.

edit: while it did turn on only 4gb of ram is installed. So I reopened the bottom and went ahead and reseated. The same thing happened from the beginning, and the screen wouldn't turn on. Then I fixed it again but now still with 4gb of ram installed. It says 4gb on each stick so no problem there. However I'm wondering if I screwed up one of the sticks when reinstalling? Or is it possible that the prongs aren't tight enough to hold down the ram? One of them doesn't seem as tight as the other.

They could either be seated poorly or one of the sticks may be dead. If reseating it doesn't work, try moving both sticks from the slots they're in now to the slots under the bottom component cover. If it doesn't work there, then it's most likely the stick of RAM which you can RMA. Hopefully it's not the slot, but that's a rare problem.

so I got the 4gb working again. Then I restarted the computer and again no screen pops up. It's like I have to reset it every time I turn off the computer. I didn't move the computer at all though so I don't see why it would pop out anyway.

Where is the additional ram slots at? I can't find it. I have P151HM1.

edit: They were originally in the bottom component cover

The other two slots are under the keyboard. That's where they should be installed by default if you only have two sticks.

I found it, and installed them(under the keyboard) now let's hope this thing will work.

edit: It happened again. I was able to boot it up perfectly with 4gb again, then I shut it down and tried to boot it up again( without moving the laptop at all) and the screen doesn't turn on. :(

edit 2: I reseated them yet again. AND FINALLY 8GB appears but again the reboot just cancels everything out.

edit 3: I just talked to one of your live agents, and they are sending me info through e-mail on how to flash my BIOS.

edit 4: ok I flashed my BIOS but I'm still getting the same problem as before :(

edit 5: since it looks like there's nothing else I can do on my end they're going to overnight me a new one(fricking awesome)

lol look at all these edits
