I just recently Bought a few Seagate 7200.4 Hdd froma member of the fourm, that cam from dell. they all seemed to be brand new. and were still in sealed anti static bags. i turned one into an external drive and it semms to work fine. i installed one in a Asus lappy imn selling and so far no issues.
i was going to get a 500gb drive to put in this Clevo M570ru, but i deceded that since i spent the money on these i would use one for this laptop.
well i installed it installed windows 7, and transfered all of my files & folders, etc etc. left it for about 5 moins and i come back and its a black screen with a cursor blinking in the top left corner, wouldnt reset, or any response, so i powered it off, and it sent the bios into an reboot cycle, it will try to boot, it will get to where the windows is starting screen should be, then it reboots...over & over. i know its not the achi or ever, as i have Win 7 installed on this hdd. i tried with the other 4 drives and have the same issue. is this Hdd judst not compatible with the M570ru? im confused as hell
any help or suggestios would be appreciated

Seagate hard drives SHOULD work with Sager notebooks, but Sager doesn't actually release the brands of drives they use. We found out the hard way that some Sager systems can be very picky about RAM brands, but have never been told the same about hard drives.
Out of curiosity, if you download Seagate's DOS Seatools ( http://www.seagate.com/staticfiles/support/seatools/SeaToolsDOS216EURO.ISO) and boot from it, will it detect the hard drive and give it a clean bill of health? -

I actually can't remember which brand it was, but we had a customer who purchased 8 GB of either Crucial or Corsair RAM (I know it was one of those two, which is why it was so surprising) for his NP9262, and the system wouldn't boot. Swapped it with Kingston RAM and it worked like a charm.
When we asked Sager about it, they told us that the only RAM they use is either Kingston or Hynix. -
Well, thank heavens my G.Skill ram worked... if I ever decide to take the 8gb plunge I will go with them again.

As with every computer upgrade - just make sure the company you're buying from has a good return policy and you should be golden

In most cases depending on the bios it will say "no operating system found" there may be another issue... You said you had an external enclosure, put the drive in question in that and see what you can do with it... If it works there stare looking at other things ..
You can also test it with Ultimate boot...

thanks for the responses. as for the Ram, i had issues with OCZ ram when i first bought this, but i upgraded to 8gb and used Hynix and it worked fine, Fwiw i have another M570ru and it uses the OCZ ram without issue.
as for the Hdds, it seems like my Key for windows was causing boot errors. i swapped all 5 hdds in to the enclosure and they worked fine, tried to use them all to install windows.....nothing. swapped them into a different computer same issue.....then i decided that maybe i wouldnt activate windows on the install......3 days later im running fine so i enter the Key, and it seems to be fine.....IDK the issue was with using the key when it asks for it during the setup process, but i have to assume that was the issue..
Seagate Hdd Trouble or ????
