So I noticed something by accident yesterday. When I reboot the system I normally have to unplug my second external monitor (DVI connection) to get the desktop to span properly. I left it unpluged for some reason last night and noticed my GPU temp was lower than normal. I didn't give it much thought but after connecting the second monitor I noticed temps increase as much as 14 C! The monitors are both the same and run at 1080p resolution. I was very suprised to see the GPU having such a harder time running two screens instead of one. I am going to try gaming next week when I get back with just the main monitor plugged in and see if it helps keep the temps down.
I'm curious if others are seeing this with other models of laptops/GPUs. During use my laptop screen is disabled and not in use at all.

Yes that is normal. When you run dual monitors you're asking more out of the video card and in turn it will run hotter.

If I recall correctly the clocks will be higher when you connect a second monitor. You should be able to regulate the clocks with a overclocking tool and lower your temps as well.
