I was wondering, I know you can opt for your laptop to have no branding. I didn't know if there was a way to take it off if you already have it, and if you'd be able to put it on again. I'm about to buy a Sager, but I'm not sure which option to pick for this, as I'm not sure which would be a better theft deterrent - a name that nearly nobody has heard of, or *no name at all*. And it's not just for theft deterrent, but I can't tell from the pictures which I like better. If it matters, I'll be getting a NP9150.
-
Lol with or without branding sager's look like the old bricks from 1995. Pretty good theft deterrent when put next to a mac.
-
True enough, but even so, for my own eye, can I remove it?
-

Yes you can remove the Sager logo yourself but will not be able to put it back on after you do.
-
Alright. how difficult is it to remove? Or is it just prying it off with a screwdriver or something?
-
I'm at a loss to understand your issue with a little emblem (label, or whatever you want to call it) on the cover.
-
I just don't know if I like it or not. Not until I see it. I'm going to get it, but its nice to know that if I hate it I can take it off.
And I'm just trying to make sure I have an answer to any possible question I may have about this laptop. Big investment. Borderline too big. -

I forgot the exact name of the material used but its pretty much a high quality sticker. -
I'd be more concerned that the laptop works perfectly...but that's just me.
-
Oh most definitely, but it was just one of those "I wonder if..." kinda things. The more I think about it, I know I'm not gonna take it off, but still. Almost all of my other questions have either been answer on these forums or have been asked to Reflex this weekend, and I'm just waiting for a reply email.
-
I dont understand why so many people think this. I like the looks of my np9150 a lot more than any of the macs.
Its black, clean, and sleek. -
I tend to agree with you, but I like the Macbook aesthetics, too.
-
Pretty much all adhesive can be removed using a generous amount of rubbing alcohol. Or vodka if you care to make it a more enjoyable experience.*
* = disclaimer: if you are of legal age of course. -
If only I had room in my sig, you'd be in it for this. And yeah, I kinda figured Good to know that if the need arises, i can remove the branding myself. Highly doubt I will, but my mind has been racing the past week or two about all these questions about this laptop, because it sounds amazing and I really want to get it in my hands already, but at the same time, i wanna make sure i do my research. Thanks guys.

Haha if a company wanted me to leave branding on the product then they should pay me for advertising them
.
-
Removing it is a good option. Especially because you could check it out to see if you like it in person.
Also once you dealth with it nothing stops you from custom ordering a metalic sticker of anything you want and making your own look. -
I was actually wondering where I could get a high quality custom sticker for these computers
-
I, too, was thinking about that. At work we have hundreds of computers to keep track of, so each computer gets a kind of tin sticker with a number. But they're friggin' strong. Once they go on and sit for a bit, they aren't coming off, at least not in one piece. Could use that kinda stuff. I'm gonna try to find out what it is/where we get it from.
-
Check for automotive decals. They are of high quality with adhesive that probably won't ever come off.
-
You should be able to get them from alot of places that sell thick vinyl stickers. You can get bubble stickers too. I have not specifically researched it but googling metalic stickers, or foil stickers gives alot of hits. You can also ask mythlogic they might tell you who makes theirs.
-
Let's say I wanted to brand my computer "WCFire" (I wouldn't). Just the text, like the Sager, Malibal, and Mythlogic logos. It seems most places that would offer a service like this only sells in bulk. I'd bet the same people who sell en masse to businesses wouldn't do so for individual people.
I looked into automative stickers. I'm not sure I want one that will never come off
-
If you want something dye cut it will be more expensive, but at the end of the day all companies will work for profit. they might just charge you a high price. The other option is for you to buy a sticker that is the right size and stencil cut it out yourself which would not be at all hard to do with a good exacto knife or scissors.
But I have found now days there are lots of companies that offer custom cut stuff for pretty reasonable prices. If you think you are going to get it all for $5 shipped to your door, you probably wont. But I doubt the price is that bad.
Another thing you can do is goto a fishing store, they often sell metallic tape for making your own luers. You might be able to buy that and cut out what you want. Its like less than $5 for a foot.

They have black chrome there which would be sick, one of my favorite looks. -
At least some of the resellers offer custom skins that you can design however you like. I considered it, since I'll be largely using the 9150 I'm getting ready to order for my business, and could put the logo on it real big. In the end, I decided it wasn't worth it to me for the delay it adds (not only in production, but for me to come up with the design - I'm super picky about stuff like that), and can probably work with a local vinyl shop to do the same thing later on.
-
Wow, I was just about to make a thread on this before I saw yours. My preference is without Sager branding, branding for companies like Malibal would be okay to me. I will be ordering a Malibal Satori and I will be choosing to have it branded. I think the Malibal logo looks very good and adds an elite look on the brushed aluminum cover of the Satori model.
The Malibal logo itself is a metallic decal that sits very flush to the cover and so it looks very good on the computer. I will be able to remove it if I prefer the blank look more.

If you're concerned with how the logo looks on the laptop, have you checked out the photo gallery at any reseller websites for that particular laptop?
It should show the NP9150 with the logo in place. If you don't like how that looks, just order it without it.
You can also check out the Owner's lounge for anyone that may have posted reviews about their laptop to see if they have the Sager logo or not and how it looks. -
i just took my stickers all off, even the malibal branding on the outside, which is like super shiny chrome looking letters glued on, which were hard to remove, but now it looks very inconspicuous and i doubt some one will steal this versus any branded laptop, when they go to sell it they would have to try and explain what brand it is and they would fail.
-
How difficult was the logo to remove? Was it just a matter of heat, peel, and rubbing alcohol, or did you have to chisel it off?
-
Speaking of which, I'm going to remove my stickers too except the Sager on the lid...
I do have an actual JEEP and 4x4 vehicle emblems that I've been looking to put somewhere, lol. I have one on my desktop. But for some reason this machine just doesn't remind me of a Jeep or 4x4 but a high performing but basic looking sports car. -

Really easy to remove, you can put a little heat on it from a hair dryer to loosen the adhesive. Then just peal it off. You can order with the logo's and easily remove if you would like. -
i used a razor blade to lift the edge of the "badge" and then it just peeled off and there wasnt really any residue, to be honest im surprised at how well it stuck on considering how easily i was able to remove it.
edit: then i use the letters on the inside XDAttached Files:

BAIL! lol
-
You took them off then rearranged them on the inside!
Okay so I might just order with the decals in the case that I like them because they don't seem to hard to get off. -
yeah just order it with and then that way you can see how it looks, then if you dont want them just bail out.
