Hi, I'd like to ask the community how much it thinks I can get for the custom-built Clevo M570-TU (Silver/Black finish). This is a 17" desktop replacement, power user workstation, ideal for graphics work, video editing, and gaming. I want to downsize to a lighter 15" laptop because my needs have changed. My unit was built by Eurocom and customized with the following specs:

Gorgeous 1920x1200 WUXGA screen, 8GB RAM, Intel CoreDuo2 Quad CPU Q9000 2.0GHz, 320GB 7200RPM, nVidia GeForce GTX280M, Toshiba Dual-Layer DVD Burner, 2.0MP Webcam, Data/Fax modem, Wifi 802.11 a/g/n, Bluetooth, Outputs for USB 2.0 x 4, HDMI, DVI, eSata, RJ45, Mic, Headphone, S/PDIF, mini Firewire, as well as a media card reader and PCIe Express slot. It also has built-in biometrics (fingerprint scanner), and a touchpad with scrolling function. Keyboard also includes numeric keypad and 3 instant keys. When the laptop is shut, you can lock it using the handy latches (very neat feature you don't see around much anymore). Comes with the single battery and power supply. Weight is 8.69lbs with battery.

The unit is cosmetically in amazing condition, and the specs offer great performance for demanding users. However there are 2 little imperfections to be noted.
    (a) The earphones connection is loose so you have to play with it...but if you won't use earphones that much, it won't be an issue.
    (b) Upon close inspection, I have also noticed a dead pixel near the bottom left...but this is in my opinion hardly noticeable. This still remains the best display I have ever seen.

I'd appreciate input from knowledgeable people here about how much I may be able to get for this laptop, and what would be good places to find buyers online...

best bet is ebay - you can have a minimum price of $200 for this and just see if there would be any bidders. Opt for the option also for best offer. I know it is a big drop from what you paid originally but that is how the tech market works. Good luck!

P.S. If no takers- try incrementally lowering the minimum price. If I were you, I would donate it instead to a non-profit and get a receipt and you should be able to write off the value as a charitable deduction. But if you go ebay, compare other pricing out there. Because this is a heavy laptop, you may not even be able to sell it.

Thanks for the tips... I just went to eBay and saw that the barebones of this laptop is still being sold new but without processor, RAM, video card, or hard drive. The seller's location is in Nepean, which incidentally is where Eurocom (who I purchased this from) is headquartered. My hunch is that they are trying to liquidate the remaining "shells" of this model. New shells without RAM, CPU, Video Card and Hard Drive for 575$ US + 35$ shipping....is that a good price?

If they sell these at that price, maybe I could get 500$ for mine, shipping included? Then again, Eurocom has a bad rap for overpricing...

Donations sounds nice too, but I was hoping to use this money to buy another laptop. ;)

if u go ebay, id start the auction at one buck :) most people do the mistake and demand a higher starting bid, but that only scares off potential buyers/bidders. i know i know, people would say "what if its gonna sell for just one dollar?!?!? !". aint gonna happen, trust me. u ALWAYS get more dough out of an auction by putting the starting bid at 1 dollar. that attracts more hits, which in turn results in more potential buyers, more bidders, higher end price.....etc ;)

anyways, how old is ur machine? personally i always go by the rule of thumb of approximately 50% loss in value each year when it comes to notebooks/laptops, etc. thus, when u bought it for 2k after one year the price will drop to 1k, after 2 years to approx. 500, and so on... i know it sucks, but thats actually realistic, unless of course uve pumped more money into it and upgraded the hardware and extras :)

    cheers

You could try to sell it on this site as well. I miss having a 1920 x 1200 screen, shame they dont make them anymore.

Done deal. Successfully sold it for 440$ CDN thru local Craigslist (which was better than the offers I got on eBay.)
    Very happy!
