Okay, so I got my laptop in but there's several frustrations (I'm new to PC gaming in general, so please understand).

First... I thought I was supposed to get a Windows 7 CD if I ordered from Xotic. I didn't get a single CD in my box and Windows was already installed on my computer. What if I want to reinstall it?

Second... when I play games the framerate makes it literally unplayable. There is an over 1 second delay in a game like Kingdoms of Amlaur (SP?) even when on normal settings. What do I do with my graphics card? If I uninstall it how do I reinstall it without a CD? And if it's already installed how do I upgrade the driver (Never done that before). I got a 7970 BTW.

Who did you order from? You should have definitely received a couple of CDs with your package.

Xotic. Which CDs should I have received other than the Windows one?

It should have come with a Windows CD and a Driver CD. Call XoticPC and have them send you the disks. I'm sorry they did that to you. Unnecessary trouble -.-

You should have gotten a Windows disc if you had Windows in your configuration. Since you said Windows was installed it sounds like you did. Was there any other CD at all besides the Drivers disc?

It sounds like you are using the onboard graphics. I don't actually have my laptop yet, but from what I've read, I believe you need to go into CCC (Catalyst Control Center) and configure Enduro so that the games you are playing run on the 7970M and not the onboard graphics.

Okay 1) look REAL hard for the disks, if you got a free case(bag) look in the front pocket (that's where my disks were)

for windows, there are TONS of ways to get it. Here's one way:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/win...-digitalriver-windows-7-sp1-13-languages.html

If you have friends, etc you can also use their windows disks.

As for drivers, first locate that disk, then follow the installation instructions in the manual. Then if it's still giving you problems, check out the NUMEROUS 7970 threads and install the right drivers.

This is my thought exactly. Double check to make sure that the game is running on the 7970m and not the integrated graphics.

yea I`ve had the same problem, so far unless I specify it in CCC, any game or application(any 3D mark) I start always goes with the integreated graphic.

this will sure cause a lot of grief on support lines.

seem like they could have avoided that with a simple popup asking if it is a high perfomance app or not every time your start an undefined one.

    hi bentendo
firstly could you tell us what laptop you have with your spec.
if you have optimus then as mentioned its using the intergrated graphics instead of the dedicated 7970

you should of received an oem operating disc and also a drivers disc. as mentioned check all the pockets if you got a carry bag as they can be hidden in one of the pockets.
also did you opt for the upgrade backup which will be on a hidden partition (normaly F11 on bootup. im only going by old clevo models but im guessing the newer models have this option as well)

Everytime I have started an app for the first time, this has happened. A popup came up telling me the app was not classified and asked if I wanted to classify it. If I selected yes, it brought up the interface to select the power saving or high performance setting for that executable. If I selected no, the popup comes up again when I launch the app again. I did miss a couple of these as they popped up slightly after a full screen executable launched (like the actual game exe for Diablo 3 or SC2), but they were there if I Alt+Tab back.

Is this not happening for everyone else with a 7970m . . .?

I need to double check my discs though. I only remember 1 disc that I thought was a driver + windows restore disc, but it seems like there should have been a driver disc + Windows disc . . . .

if you had a driver + windows restore then it looks like they are puting it all on one disc now.
    only reseller can clarify this

Nope, it was my mistake, I remembered wrong. There is a drivers CD and a Windows recovery DVD. The fact that it was a labeled a recovery CD versus a straight up Windows 7 disc messed me up. 2 discs here. ..
