I've ordered my NP8662 back in late april through xoticpc and about two days ago it entered phase 2. I was thinking I would receive it in about a week or two. Now you can imagine my surprise when a ups truck came in this morning at about 11am asking for about 300$ in taxes !! And yes, you guessed it, it was my beloved Sager NP8662 arriving![]()
I've been following what ppl said about their M860TU, and for now all I can say is that this notebook is perfect![]()
It's actually smaller than what I thought. I've been lugging an 17' inspiron to my exams in class and I've seen other students having some big toshibas, and I can say that this notebook is real good looking and not that bulky.
I ran 3dmark and the fan isn't that loud (I've seen some acers louder on idle lol). I got 10366 which I think is comparable to what others have got. For now there is no hot spots (palm rest a little, but not really noticeable). The notebook runs quite cool. Hdd stays at around 50 degrees, cpu 62(max), gpu 73(max).
I am very happy with my purchase so far (had it for like 2hrs tho xD).
Anyway now I'm off installing left for dead!! I hope you guys love this beast as much as I do![]()
Config : wxga+
P9600
4gb ram
320 gb 7200 rpm hdd
gtx 260M
Btw xoticpc puts really random stickers on the notebook.. I got hdmi, intel centrino 2 and srs wowlol

congrats on receiving the new little beast.
just make sure to monitor those temps and regularly clean out the vents/fans. -
Wow! I too ordered my NP8662 in late April from XoticPC and it changed to Phase 2 just yesterday. I guess I can't get my hopes up though, I have a feeling it's going to be at least another week before I get mine. Enjoy!

Mine arrived today as well. Wow I love this 15" beast. I agree that it is a nice size. Not too heavy at all. The WSXGA+ screen is excellent. I was concerned after reading some posts that it would be dim. No way at least not at all indoors even in bright lights. The workmanship and quality are top notch as far as I can tell. The keyboard is very well constructed and a pleasure to use. I haven't run any tests yet. It came with Vista Premium but I needed to load a big update and I am still loading other stuff. No bloatware to speak of - that's nice. About my only complaint is that the Centrino 2 and the SRS stickers look kinda tacky as they are on slightly crooked and they do not seem to be easily removed. The skin looks great.

I wouldn't mind a nice Core 2 Sticker, but 3 on a notebook just seems silly.
Well I'm done complaining, mine gets here tomorrow...
...head going to explode.... -
give me some more details..
benchmark scores and OC result.. and temperature of gpu and cpu
when pushed to the limit. i still can't choose between np9280 and
np8662 + qx9300. -
I haven't OCed it yet. But you have the max gpu and cpu temps in my first post (that's while running 3dmark). I still have to undervolt the cpu tho.
To be honest the only reason to go with NP8662 to me is that it is portable. Other than that, NP9280 owns pretty much. Someone here on NBR got a NP8662 with a qx9300 in it so you might aswell ask him for benchmarks. It runs quite hot tho.
Btw nice skin elbig -
If you want to remove the stickers easily... just use a heat gun or air dryer to warm on the surface around the sticker.
When there is enough heat, the adhesive of the stickers will peel up as clean and easy as butter. -
Why did you have to pay taxes when it arrived? Was it shipped from a different country or something?
-
Cool, my NP8662 is currently in phase 2.
-
Mine's Phase 4 as of today.
UPS says Tues. -

I personally think at least from the picture the sticker looks really cool, but it may be the case of a photogenic laptop
-
I've been in phase 2 for about 3 days so i'm hoping it's shipped out tomorrow or Friday... Congrats on getting your gear though!
-
Congrats on your purchase. I just ordered mine yesterday and is now in phase 2. I can't wait to get my hands on this beast. I just cant wait....

Have there been any reviews of the 8662 yet? If not get on it!!!

This notebook is indeed amazing
For the taxes, I actually live in another country heh, Canada to be more precise, so I had to pay GST/PST of my country/province.
The centrino 2 and srs wow stickers aren't really so great :/ I'll probly remove them. I might even be able to peel them off by themselves while gaming since they are on the left palmrest area(jokes..it doesn't get that hot
)

UPS says Wed for me

You are going to love it. Well worth the wait.

Wow April? I ordered mine on 5/14 (yesterday) @ 11:59am. Confirmation email of it going into Phase two: 5/14 @ 5:27p.
I did tell them that I wanted to cancel if I couldn't get it by June first.
Or maybe the just had a recent shipment of goodies around to fill orders! -
-
I wonder how many NP8662's have been sold. I can't remember seeing any other laptop that was so popular. I have an email saying that mine will be shipped by the latest, next Tuesday so I should have mine by next Wednesday (if all goes well in the testing phase).
I just can't wait to try out that new Wolverine Chronicles on it. First thing I will do is obviously an Orthos CPU stress test to see how the Q9000 deals with heat, a donut of fur GPU stress test, temperature monitoring and then a Drive Snapshot of the current setup to an external USB hard disk drive, if I ever need to restore back to the initial new OS install state. Of course I will be doing other tests of stability and heat but those are the main ones I will be doing.
I wonder how Saints Row 2 will run on this one. -
also did you have to pay duty? -
Yeah I'm really curious to see the performance and heat with the Q9000. So you guys who ordered one with this cpu better benchmark as soon as you get it!
@cloud962 : Mine was 2028$ with 3 years warranty and vista, + 129$ express shipping, and I had 13% taxes at the door (GST + Quebec PST). I didn't have any brokerage fees since express shipping includes them. If you choose a normal shipping method, you get around 80-100$ brokerage fees in addition to the taxes at your door. That is for Canada tho. -

I ordered mine with 3GB of DDR3 RAM and XP SP3 (for now), which 3DMark test do you recommend?
I am sure most went with 4GB DDR3 and Vista. Since Vista uses more resources including more RAM, I do wonder about the benefits of having more in that case though. I also find more of my older games work better on XP.
There are so many different 3DMark bench / test programs, I see people using 3dMark 06, 3DMark 2001 but surely the older ones will be easier on the hardware. Maybe I will just look for a more recent one. -
I now recommend 3DMark Vantage... since it will prevent inflated scores.
3DMark06 is still good benchmark, but just make sure to look at the SM2.0 and SM3.0/HDR scores if you want to compare videocard performance.... the CPU score can make things inflated for the total score.
Sharing the excitement (Np8662 inside) :D
