I spoke to a rep from one of the resellers today about getting a specific upgrade on my 8150 order (I have an order with Malibal, but they don't offer this upgrade and don't sound like they plan to, so I was checking around) This is what they said regarding an order for the 8150:
It sounds like we should all be getting our orders by the end of March!
Note: I did not mention the reseller or list the name of the rep (or the upgrade part) because a) this could be incorrect info and b) I don't want to get said rep in trouble if it wasn't supposed to be released.

Everyone getting it my the end of March is nice
My last exam is April 4 =] Then tons of gaming~! -
I ordered a 8170 on 1/25, I can only hope I'm on the same boat.
-
Eh...Are you sure the rep wasn't saying that just to try to get a sale (no offense, resellers)?
I think I deduced which reseller/rep you spoke to, but I shall keep my lips sealed
I'm pretty much resigned to getting mine in late March/early April, although many people I know are asking if I have it yet, and it's making me antsy...
@ Stelio When I was in college, I started studying for exams from 2 weeks to a month early. Then, I gamed every night, all night, on finals week. I won't reveal my gpa, but I will tell you that gaming works better than crammingLast edited by a moderator: Jan 29, 2015 -
But yeah, he could have been trying to make a sale. I told him up front it would depend on what Malibal could do, so it wasn't guaranteed. But I still like to have hope that my order could ship earlier.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 29, 2015 -
You guys are some funny guys
Yea that was us, its cool. From what we hear yes should have everything out by late march. Notice I keep using shouldhehe.
But in all honesty everyone who pre-ordered should be getting them in march at some point =) -
How hard is it to do the monitor upgrade? (In case I want to at some point) Also, still no news on 6970s?
-
this would make me so happy if its true
-
Does this include the 8170s, Mythlogic?
-
Seriously though, you guys have been awesome. I'm torn on the screen upgrade -
-
This better be true. I can't stand the waiting anymore. I can feel my SC2 ladder ranking going down by the day. I haven't played in a month and can only get my fix with youtube videos. Epsilon, you had better not have gotten my hopes up for nothing
-
This is good news, originpc is also promoting the 6970M in their eon 15-s/17-s so hopefully it is soon. I just hope I am able to add it before my order ships.
-
hispeed4567, I'm doing the same thing haha, watching sc2 daily XD It kills to watch and not be able to play!
-
hahah Let's see: Husky, HDstarcraft, ForceSC2strategy, Askjoshy, Psystarcraft, HunterStarcraft, and some Day9 every now and then. Its actually gotten annoying since I can't watch videos unless I'm a caster's youtube page as opposed to just being on the generic white youtube page and queueing up a ton of videos.
If I get it during my Spring Break, I'll be very happy. Although, this freezing issue causing some distress. -
-
Do you guys have any idea how far up your resellers cue your order is?
-
i was 15th up until a few hours ago.. then i switched to the 17". now idk
-
-
- I liked the brushed metal finish over the rubberized.
- I can have both my hard drives in, and not have the odd as external
- figure I'll be upgrading the CPU when ivy bridge comes out (possibly to the 2920xm sandy bridge) so the 8170 allows overclocking for that
- i decided I wanted the extra screen space. I've had my 15" for a few years.. Time for a change
- weight difference was like 2lbs. Not much difference in a backpack. Plus it stays on my desk a lot of the time so...
- can still get a nice screen through mythlogic
- there was little battery life difference. Im near a plug a lot anyways so doesn't matter too much to me
- better cooling
- decided that a 17" fit better in my lap
- I was worried about the keyboard being too off-center (like on my girlfriends studio xps 17") but the 8170 and 8150 have the same keyboard so it doesn't really matter -
So out of curiosity I went to Dell's website and configured a M15X as close as possible to my NP8130 pre-ordered system.Check out bin price and comparison between these two systems.
M15X final cost: $2374
NP8130 final cost:$1200 (with cash discount) @ Xoticpc.

The numbers tell everything! Unbelievable! -
Ya, I've been playing the same game for the last two weeks. Even on eBay, where you can get a refurb m15x and I already have a 940XM, still the new Clevo's are faster and cheaper. The only downside is the stupid freezing bug.
-
-
Because AFAIK Sager has not been able to reproduce the freezing issue at all. -
Will we get our laptop around mid-March or will they start shipping around mid-March? I can't wait to get my new laptop!
My netbook lags even while playing flash games!
Macbooks are shipping already!I think...
-
or is it a Sager/clevo problem? -
-
-
-
Nobody knows how the mackbook GPU switching actually works yet. I hope that it is not something like Nvidia optimus which would cause problems running some programs. Eventhough our Sager NP8130/8150 have no switchable graphics, I would rather have no switchable graphics than have problems with certain games. 3 hours battery life isn't THAT bad... Actually the macbooks have that battery life too when running Windows 7.

March already tom, hope we get positive updates soon...
-
right on.
-
i had an order for the 8150 from myth (15th in line). decided to switch to the 8170 (4th in line). then i decided i wanted the 8150 and i was mad cuz i figured i'd be at the back of the line for the 8150's. NOPE! idk if Mythlogic was just expecting me to change my mind again or if he just didnt get around to it yet, but i was able to get my #15 spot back! MYTHLOGIC rocks!

More good news! Sandy bridge boards are shipping once again! Starting March 7th
While this is MSI, it's a good sign that things are on track. -
Cmon clevo! -
Come on Sager!!!! Roll out them Sandy Bridges!!! I really look forward to getting this laptop around mid-March. I hope the ETA is when we will actually get our hands on them and not when they will start shipping. It's only a week difference I know but it makes us customers feel great if the company gets ahead of their promise! As long as there are no freezing issues with these new laptops, I'm happy!
-
I'm excited! Can't wait to get my hands on this beast!
On a side note, it's become a bit of a hobby of mine to talk to Dell tech support and see what I can get them to replace under warranty. Just for kicks.. They came today and replaced everythin except the proc, ram, hd, and optical drive. Just because. I honestly did not tell the tech that anything was wrong, he just kept saying "oh. I see. I'll send one of those out today." every time I mentioned anything about anything.. I was amusedafter them coming out various times this is about the 3rd completely new system I've gotten from them. Do I feel bad? A little.. Is it wrong? Yeah, i suppose. But when they keep offering, I don't see why not lol. Especially when my warranty is about to be up. Don't worry Myth, i wont be doing this to you lol..
-
If the freezing issue is resolved, this seems like the perfect laptop. Hurry Sager!
-
-
I just reseated my 8600 and now its running cool to the touch again... Do I still get them to replace it and risk a bad one? Warranty up in 2 months...
Also HDD might die, and screen is dimmer than it used to be... -
assuming I can get her to understand how to use it well enough to be a benefit lol..
Might see about the getting the ram and proc replaced in the next month or so. Both are still going strong though, so should I worry about them? Temps are all good (low-mid 30s for proc and HD, upper 30s-40s for main board..) in case you're wondering -
-
Heres some more good news.
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -
hp is starting to ship their sb notebooks too!
Ship date on the 8130/8150's!
