I want some official new from Sager!!
-
Very much? Like as is you're getting new boards this week and you could be ahead of schedule?
-
I like the cut of your jib old chap. Marvelous news indeed that would be
-
Well.................they did say an estimated start ship of mid-March, and none of the resellers have said otherwise. So, I believe that's a big hint right there
-
"Currently the mass production version of the revised 6 series is scheduled to begin delivery from Intel to Clevo in limited quantities at the end of Feb 2011. We estimate that we will resume limited quantity shipment of Sager models NP8130, NP8150, and NP8170 in the middle of March 2011 and limited quantity of NP5160, NP5170 models at the end of March to the beginning of April 2011. Stabilization of shipment for all models should occur by the end of April 2011."
From an email awhile back. "Limited" is the key word. With reduced shipments of the 460/470/485 in the last two months, there should be no shortage of these cards. It's just a matter of churning these things out. -
Aye. While I hate to fuel further speculation, considering that Clevo/Sager's average order turnover was about 2 weeks before the Intel incident, one can pretty much use their order date to guesstimate the shipping timeframe based on the mid-March start ship.
-
I was hoping that Sager would surprise us by coming ahead of schedule
-
It would be nice to have it by spring break but oh well
-
Spring break is what I'm hoping for. I ordered pretty damn early not to get it by then
-
In fact, my Australian reseller sales rep said:
"It is still on schedule and could possibly be a few days early actually.
All looks good still."
My order was due on the 21st of March, three weeks from now. If they say it'll be a few days early then I'll receive my laptop in the next two weeks. -
Wow! I never got date like that ! I hope I'm in the same boat =]
-
It would be awesome if I can get it around March 14-18
I ordered mine at Feb 08
maybe I won't have that luck.
-
I guess in the States, Europe and Canada will have a higher congestion in ordering the new Sagers, which might lead to late March shipping. I had an exact date from that reseller because they might be well informed, or there's a lower number of audiences in the Australian community that are ordering this laptop, hence they can estimate dates without delay mishaps.
Australians barely know what the hell is a Sager, let alone Clevo. Show them a picture of the Alienware and they go, " Oh yeh I kno' that one mate, I'd like to romp it up aite?" -
Same in most places. I can say Clevo, or Sager, in the U.S. (mostly my college) and people will ask if its some sort of drink. I've gotten tired of explaining what they are, what parts they have, and how awesome it is
-
Eh..I would say that's cutting it really close. Even if Sager does begin shipping exactly on Mar 14, standard shipping takes about a week, so you would probably get it on Mar 21 at the earliest, unless you opted for overnight or something.
There are also a number of other factors, such as whether your reseller opted to use Sager's contracted carrier(s), or whether they hire their own freight forwarder. Neither of which we know for sure. Additionally, in both cases, we do not know whether there are routine carrier pick-ups, for example on a daily basis, or whether they opt to consolidate shipments to be picked up only a couple days a week. IMO, the second is more likely, when we consider the sizes of the companies involved, as well as the ( relative) cost of the products. In these cases, pick-up dates are frequently in the later half of the week, for obvious reasons.
Like I said before, if we assume the following:
1. Sager's average order lead-time of 2 weeks (I saw this on NBR sometime ago) between order receipt to shipping is still true
2. Shipments are consolidated
3. Shipments begin in mid-March timeframe
Then we can pretty much use your order date (or rather, the date your reseller communicated your order to Sager) to estimate when you will get your new lappie. However, as you can see, that is a number of assumptions, so you have your caveat right there

Well Dell is advertising the 21st for the sandy bridge XPS lineup so that date shouldn't be too far off...
That said, how come none of the US readiness are giving us updates like that!
A few people at my school have actually heard of Sager and I go to law school too... But they all work in IT like me. -
Lets give the resellers a break guys. Im sure this recall is affecting their business more than its affecting us.
The important thing is that we get our machines in a reasonable amount of time with all issues resolved. -
Amen brother
-
I agree, although my experience with xotic has always been positive and I have never felt like they were selling to me. I agree, I am sure this is affecting sales as it was a really hard decision for me to spend 1900 dollar and then have to wait possibly 2 months.
-
Sales is not affected as long as you placed your pre-order
haha jk. I'm fine as long as I get a good laptop that will last.
-
I concur. The resellers are probably in about the same position as us, where they have to wait for information from Clevo/Sager as well, or they are bound by some kind of NDA.
I am just expecting to get my lappie either in late March/early April, so that it minimizes any disappointment, and maximizes possibilities for a pleasant surprise
-
Nah, resellers just had 2 months of sitting on their rear ends forum surfing all day while at work while not having to assemble anything, dreading the next few weeks of massive overtime to get their orders out on time
Notice Mythlogic hasn't been talking in a few days, and is slow on responding to my emails... I bet they got their shipments and are busy building now... -
Don't let your bro-love for your reseller make you forget that companies (no matter their position in the supply chain) are completely responsible for the products they hock. Re-branding a product doesn't absolve you of responsibility.
I say again, this is a consumer-based review website. -
Well, Mathis, I think we'll see our machines soon...
-
It may have affected them a little...but if you think about it maybe this recall forced some people to buy an old laptop quickly and with it selling old i7s to make way for SB.
Everyday I look at the G53JW and think why didn't I do it? I am really convinced by the 8150 and I hope I get mine this month. -
I agree that all nodes of a supply chain are ultimately responsible to both external and internal customers, as well as the end-consumer in some fashion.
However, what they can or are allowed to do is ultimately governed by the information they have (or lack thereof). This information likely suffers from the Bull-whip Effect, which results in scenarios such as message inaccuracies, poor communication, and hedging throughout an entire supply chain. Due to this, I think many of the resellers deserve at least some benefit of the doubt, though not so much that they be allowed to walk all over the consumers of course.
Based on the actions of the handful of resellers that have been reasonably active on NBR, I don't think there is any doubt that they are committed to customer service. COnversely, those who resorted to questionable practices have seen backlash as well. -
Oh, I give them the benefit of the doubt. I think what is being said is different from what is allowed to be said. NDA's are one thing, but withholding information for profit is another. Let's just say there are some of us out there that are only waiting on a shell to be shipped to a reseller for our computer to be built. Let's just say that we also know pretty much exactly when that shell will be shipped. This is all hypothetical of course.
And by withholding information for profit, I mean not giving all the details because if you had the details you might get upset and change your mind on the whole thing. If you don't think companies do that (are doing that) then you are really naive. By not providing very specific details you can still have a sliver of hope that you'll receive your laptop in a reasonable time frame, while they technically aren't telling you a story. This also creates a comfortable buffer zone for time and capital management by being purposefully vague. Meanwhile your money is spent but your needs/wants are not satisfied, which is really the bottom line. -
All that taken into account Mathis, if you read my post above, the two of us should both get our laptops the week of the 14th.
-
Yeah I read it, I'm comfortable with our situation. I'm speaking from a general standpoint for the stuff that's being said in the forum. Unfortunately for me, I will have to wait another 3-4 weeks for shipping after it leaves MythLogic because I'm shipping to a military FPO/APO overseas.
-
I agree and know that businesses do engage in that. After all, I had posted before regarding non-committal statements that appear to be vague. I won't say whether it is right or wrong, since everyone probably has their own opinions about that. What I will say is that information manipulation is a very common practice in both business, as well as our personal lives, so much so that it is practically a norm.
I think how that applies to this situation is that if a buyer becomes too uncomfortable with their chosen reseller, whether it be due to lack of or poor communication, or something else, then the better thing to do would be to cancel the order altogether, and go with someone else instead. -

The models are not in yet, nobody is building them yet. Keep in mind those that are not Sager Branded or built @ Sager will be behind those that are Sager Branded/Built @ Sager. In addition Sager allocates most of the shipments to Sager Branded machines versus any reseller. Nearly all of the US resellers on this board purchase from Sager, so they are dependent on Sager receiving stock and finding out what allocation they will get and have it shipped to their location.
In regards to information sharing, we always share as much info as we have as we receive it from Sager. We never withhold information by any means.
At this time we are anticipating on fulfilling all of our orders with the shipment (8130/8150/8170). They just need to be built and tested.
-
Yeah they don't have them yet but said they'll get them next week, hopefully no delays!
-
Justin, is it possible to have a laptop in someone's hands between mar 10 - 18 if they ordered in jan?
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
^^ It is going to be close. We plan on start updating customers tonight/early tomorrow on Phase 2
If any customer gets a update you are welcome to change your shipping option to fit your schedule.
-
I already got the UPS three day option. I will hope to hear from you guys soon. Thanks for the quick response.

Again, Sager is very much preparing for many, many shipments of these models by the middle of march.
_ -
I'm getting my hopes up now
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
Anytime! We greatly appreciate everyone's patience as we await for these models to arrive and be built /tested.
-
Please don't forget to test them for the freezing issue that is being reported in the other thread. A resolution on that would be much appreciated as well. Seeing as how these new laptops won't be included in the recall that is being currently cited as a viable means to recovery, I'd hate for them to still have problems.
-
I think you have a 30 days Sager satisfaction guarantee. Am I right? So if my laptop comes with freezes then I will definitely return it at the loss of shipping fees.
-
I'm not sure if this is true, but I seem to remember an argument a while back about how it was not good to knowingly ship a flawed product. There's another positive to having resellers here on the forums all the time, they can't possibly say they didn't know about it.
I do hope that the B3 stepping somehow fixed it even though my listening and reading comprehension skills tell me that the issues were not related. -
Aye. I remember being part of that discussion too
As this is definitely a known issue, regardless of how widespread (or not) it truly is, I don't think anyone suffering from it (especially post shipment resumption) should have to foot the bill of shipping it back. Of course, that is probably just wishful thinking
-
Quoted from Xoticpc.com
Other resellers have this guarantee too.
"Xotic PC's Sager Total Satisfaction Return Policy
IF FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER YOU SHOULD FAIL TO BE SATISFIED WITH YOUR SAGER PRODUCT, YOU MAY RETURN IT WITHIN 30 DAYS FROM ITS ORIGINAL SAGER SHIP DATE FOR A 100% REFUND LESS SHIPPING CHARGES. ALL RETURNS REQUIRE USE OF A RETURNED MATERIAL AUTHORIZATION (RMA) NUMBER, WHICH MUST APPEAR ON ALL COMMUNICATION ABOUT THE RETURNED ITEM AND ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE SHIPPING PACKAGING. Please email [email protected] to set up a RMA. If Rush Production is purchased this is a non refundable service."
Not everybody is experiencing freezes, and they are difficult to manipulate. It would cost the resellers a lot of time to test every laptop like that. Some freeze while idling for several hours. Some don't experience anymore freezes after updates. I'm just saying even if you do receive one that you are not satisfied with you can still return it. -
30 or 15 days??? You may want to double check that!
-
What are you talking about? That post clearly said 30 days
-
come again???
"Hassle Free Returns. Xotic PC provides a minimum 15-day NO QUESTIONS ASKED Return Policy on our items. Receive a 100% Refund (less Original Shipping). Read more here"
Here's the LINK -
Minimum. That policy is overridden by the Sager specific return policy.
-
I believe the 15-day is Xotic's standard policy, whereas the 30-day is the policy on Sagers.
-
It would be nice if Xoticpc pointed that out!
Ship date on the 8130/8150's!
