As I live outside of the US, the most difficult issue I encounter with resellers is the shipping part. I have almost orders from XoticPC for around 1600$ because they quoted me a 150$ shipping fee (I live in HK). But later they sent me another email with a whopping 400$ of shipping costs.
Did you encounter the same problem and if yes how did you manage it? Is there any alternative for the shipping phase?

Ever heard of Aramex ?

there are some mail forwarding services like shipito or myus, they give you address inside us where you can ship your brand new lappy and forward it to your home country, see their websites for shipping costs, guess it will take around 150$ for express delivery up to 4 days, depends on weight

I live in Singapore and I used a package forwarder (vPost) to forward my purchase to me. Shipping, Taxes and Insurance cost me around S$250, which would roughly translate to US$200. Don't expect it to be hassle free though, most package forwarders are plagued with negative reviews and horror stories of overcharging, missing/damaged packages and long long delays.
My 9130 reached Singapore on 8 May, and it has yet to be delivered. I'm expecting it to be delivered soon though (hopefully).
I find that it is cheaper to use forwarding than to purchase locally. With the same configuration, purchasing from a local reseller cost me ¬S$2500, while forwarding the package costs me a total of ¬S$1900, saving me approx US$500.
There are many options for package forwarders available, but you might want to do a bit of research on them before actually committing to any. For the record, I placed my order in late March (for the $50 deferred shipping discount), so I've been waiting since then for my notebook. Comgateway and Borderlinx seems more reliable than vPost, but that may only apply to Singapore. Do your own research, and see what fits you better. -
Hey a4 paper which distributor did u order from? I am pretty sure that most distributors do mail internationally, so I don't see why is a mail forwarder required

Shipping options have gotten more then normal because of the new USPS policy on no lithium batteries outside of the U.S. UPS still does this but as you see they do cost a bit more. If you do use a mail forwarding system check with them to see if they will ship Lithium batteries anymore as I have heard a lot have stopped doing so once the post office did.

Hey,
I’m experiencing a very similar problem to you! I Placed an order for an NP9170 through xotic PC and received a similar shipment quote. Did you find a solution in the end?
I have asked xoticpc for a shipping quote for the laptop without the battery. They should then be able to then ship via USPS? I’m assuming this is substantially cheaper? As close to $400 is just too much for shipping and I am reluctant to use a package forwarder.
This leads to my next question; does anyone know where you can purchase a NP9170 battery in the UK? My friend is returning from the UK in a couple weeks and if it is possible to purchase one there it may be the best option, assuming the USPS shipment is significantly cheaper. -
