    Hey guys,

Just got my laptop yesterday and I am loving it! With that said, I am having some problems with Shogun 2 and it not detecting the 7970m. I have set the game to high performance in CCC but under the options menu in-game it still shows the intel integrated graphics card. I can only select the "high" option but I try to choose all the different add on graphics like MSAA etc to the highest selectable options. I am getting approximately 30-50 fps in game right now.

    Thanks in advance!

    P.S.
I am using the stock drivers & other games I have work fine (BF3 & D3).

Try rebooting or something. I can't seem to turn on AA but I can set it to "Very High preset".

Yeah, weird idk what to do. I even tried running the dx11 benchmark for 1080p just now and it wont even let me. Totally stumped. I emailed my reseller to see if they can replicate what I am experiencing. I will try to uninstall/reinstall now to see if that works.

    UPDATE

Got it to work. Not entirely sure how tbh. I played around with CCC and the 3d settings. Even though in the in game options it still only detects the intel integrated, it i most definitely running on the 7970m. (also confirmed this with hwinfo) I have it on the highest settings that I can choose which was "high" (some reason I still cant click on "very high"). I am getting 45-60 fps now so I'm happy. :)

Did you have Shogun 2 running through Steam? It is my understanding, strange as this sounds, that some users running games through Steam have to tell the 7970M to run Steam.exe on High Performance to get it to work.

I had this problem with Shogun 2 as well, but the thing is, it seemed like it was partially my fault. I started it up the first time, and couldn't select any of the higher options, and noticed that the intel card was listed in the options. I exited the game and manually entered shogun into CCC. Went back into the game and saw that the intel gpu was still listed. At this point a vicious cycle started, where I would change something in CCC or change how I launched the game, etc, then fire up the game to check, see the Intel gpu, stop the game, change something, etc.. Finally, at one point, I noticed that I was able to select the higher options, even though it still listed the Intel card in the game. It was probably fixed for me after the first game restart but I didn't actually try changing any settings then. . .

Beyond this issue, which was more than likely partly due to me, I have had no issues with games launched from Steam.

Interesting I will try this today after work. It IS bugging me that I still cant choose the "very high" setting.

Funny, I did the exact same thing. Going back and forth with settings for the game and in CCC. Curious what kind of settings are you using now and what type of performance are you getting? (just so i can have a comparison).

    PS

Can you get the benchmark for DX11 high setting 1080p to work? (I run through steam) Mine won't launch, it says my system is not capable or soething like that. Also gives me a bunch of other errors about the terrain, mountain, river settings.

I've posted a pic of my settings below. I get the same errors when trying the DX11 high benchmark, stating that the required setting for those particular options is not available. I am able to run the benchmark using in game settings though. I'm curious now though if my settings are correct. I noticed that the "Very High" setting is grayed out for me in the options, although direct X 11 is available (and selected) as well as a few other options which were not available prior to setting up Shogun in CCC. My in game settings test resulted in 58.3 fps, which seems like it might be a bit high? Should most of the graphics options there have a 'Very High' choice available in them?

Those are the exact same settings I am using. Getting about the same FPS. I don't think it is too high. Looking at notebookcheck we should be in line perhaps eve higher. Once the official drivers are out, I think a lot of our problems will go away.
