I got a few drops of saltwater on my keyboard yesterday and it ended up shorting out the majority of my keyboard...
Everything else runs fine, but the keyboard itself... can I swap most of my internals out and put it in this ??

Same thing happened to me and my NP 5797. A drink exploded on it, I had to take off the keys and wipe everything down. However now some buttons don't and it will occasional spam "555555" or "``````". It sucks and I'll have to order a new one.

You should be able to swap your parts, though the T7200 is socket-m and the M570ru-u has a socket-p. You would need to get a new cpu. I'm not sure if it has the same optical drive bay, but the bare-bones you are looking at already has a dvd drive in it.

would a p9500 cpu also do the job?
-
The p9500 is a montevina processor (1066MHz FSB) and unfortunately the M570RU (579x) only supports Penryn processors (up to 800MHz FSB).
Another major problem that you would have (which IMO makes this impossible) is that the graphics card of the M570U (NP5760) is NOT MXM compatible, so WILL NOT fit in an M570RU chassis.
The only cross compatible bits are the RAM and HDD. Even the keyboard is not cross compatible.
However, if you want a new kbd, there is one on ebay here. -
You are a hero for linking me to that keyboard...
but if i had only seen it 1 minute ago, I wouldn't have just bought a NP5797 for $1k on ebaybut I'll probably pick up the keyboard as well to see if that's the only problem... and then try and sell it locally.

Fair enough, hope all goes well.
The 8700M GT won't be much better than the 7900GTX, but you should enjoy a modest upgrade from whatever processor you decide to put in there
Shorted out my keyboard on my NP5760..what to do...
