Should I pre-order the new Clevo 15" laptop? Simple. I do need something of its nature HOWEVER I am unsure as to whether wait when it first arrives and end up waiting until they are restocked or to get ahead of the game and pre-order so it arrives soon after release
1. Will prices on PCMW be solid. Say i purchase the configuration for 2700. Is it guaranteed to cost me $2700? What if a part is more expensive then they thought etc

I would almost wait. Let a large group get the first batch so you know about build quality etc.
-
But wat about the pricing issue?

if you read through the forums which i don't blame you if you don't... then you'd hear that PCMW is probably not going to be the first to ship anyways. I have a pre-order still with them because I save $600 on it due to a big sale and student discount but I'd wait till sager and friends start to sell them on the 15th or so of July. I'm sure you won't have to wait too long. I don't think that PCMW would charge you more for parts. Whatever they tell you should be what they sell you.

I just figured I would get it out of the way now. What is the student discount at PCMW?

you should contact them to get the exact details for things such as discounts.
As for Pre-ordering or not ordering now... the main benefit would be to lock in a price by pre-ordering. -
As to whether or not you should pre-order the m860 ("Edge" in PCMW lingo, right?) I suppose it's up to your needs, and how soon you need (or want) your laptop. I went through the exact same decision process recently.
I had ordered an Alienware m15x, because I liked the 15" formfactor, and wanted an 8800GTX GPU. For various reasons, I cancelled my Alienware order and started to look at the upcoming Clevo m860, branded by PCMW as the Edge. Three things swayed my decision away from it.
First, when it finally does come out, it will be pretty expensive. Relatively well-priced for what it is, of course, but a pretty-penny none the less.
Second, despite what the pre-order notices on PCMW's website say, it's pretty tough to say exactly when the Edge will begin assembly and start shipping. When it does, there may be a backlog of orders - a long line to wait in on the assembly-floor.
Third, the m860 is an untested formfactor, and only the second 15.4" notebook to incorporate the 8800 GTX. The only other model is the Alienware m15x which I had cancelled, in part due to the thermal issues that resulted from that GPU in the smaller notebook chassis. I'm betting that the Clevo will do a much better job managing the heat than the Alienware has - but I personally wasn't willing to take the chance yet, until some real-world customers were able to test it and report their results.
All of this led me to compromise and go with the 17" model (Clevo m570RU, PCMW "Horizon"). It's not that much bigger, in terms of physical size and weight. It's widely available already, and I needed a notebook sooner rather than later. And it's a tried and proven formfactor with excellent build quality, stellar reviews, and great heat-management.
I don't know if any of that helps, but it's the way I worked through the process of deciding which Clevo model to go with. Good luck! -
Why pre-order now? Either way you still have to wait till 14th July!

lol thanks, i'm glad you liked it. I wish PCMW would put the m570TU on their pre-order bench so that we could atleast see what it could potentially maybe be like.

Unless PCMW has some kind of guaranteed price match (im not sure), there is no way outside of speculation that you can gauge it as being the best deal. All you can assume is that you are getting a fair price (meaning you are willing to spend that much to purchase it) and the rest is speculation.

am i the only one that remembers that final prices have not been made yet, so it could actually end up cheaper, or pcmw just end up reducing their solid prices at release (no special discount sale) making anyone with preorders the same as any after orders.
-
Guys, from my point of view it is better to wait for the final product to get released, as you will not get frustrated when you'll find out that it may ship in August and you've paid for it in June (just an example). Try and wait as I am sure you will not save too much money, but at least you will know for sure the final and official configuration of the laptop + prices.
