I currently have an NP8130, and I can buy a virtually identical NP8150. The only difference is mine comes with the GTX560 and the other has the HD6990. Obviously the HD6990 is much faster, but browsing this forum it seems like Radeons fail unexpectedly and much sooner than Geforces.
Any suggestions if I should go for it or stay away? I can pretty much upgrade for almost free, otherwise I wouldn't even consider it.

The NP8150 is more likely to be happy accepting a 7970M I suppose, certainly the 6990M is faster than your current card. You know the risks so are best to judge if that is worth it to you.

You will also get a backlit keyboard if you go the the NP8150. If your current computer is handling your tasks/games fine right now I'd say wait until you're ready to get a full computer upgrade.

Thanks Meaker and Hutsady. I am currently playing Skyrim and hopefully other newer games on my NP8130, so the 6990 would be a very significant improvement. However I am still quite happy with the gtx560, especially considering I got the NP8130 for so cheap.
I think I will wait for the next gen CPUs and GPUs, and then I will just buy something new (er). -

A perfectly valid option
Should I buy an NP8150?
