Should I get SSD raid now or wait for the next gen?

Currently I have a 60G Vertex 2, and frankly it's way below the advertised speed (instead of marketed 280 sequential read and 270 sequential write, I only get 200 read and 80 write). Now that there is a 20% off coupon, I wonder if I should get another one and get RAID or just wait for a next gen drive. Which one would be faster? My budget is only $150 max so I can only get a mainstream one even if I wait.

Raid with SSD drives (from what I've read) is very fast, not so much cost effective. If you need it for work or it is just a must have for you gaming life, you will see an increase in r/w speeds. However, something new/better is always around the corner.

For me, since I need more room than what ssd can give at a reasonable price. I use 1 ssd (for os) and 1 big hdd (for games and whatnot)

Also, I believe the reason you don't see a lot of RAID SSD setups is due to the fact that most RAID controllers don't support TRIM. You'd be subjecting your SSD's to an early death in RAID as well.
