Should I get Sager laptop from Prostar/Mythlogic/Xotic or directly by Sager?

    Hi guys,

After times and times, finally I plan to get the P773DM-GS / Phobos 1715S / NP9778-S (yes, different names but actually the same), instead of NP8678-S (most important reason is low price difference, but big difference performance).

But there is still one thing confuse me, with that powerful cpu/gpu, will cooling be a potential problem in NP9778-S?

And finally, I want to know where should I get this laptop from?
It seems like buying directly from sager's website is cheaper than Prostar/Mythlogic/Xotic. As resellers, why are they offering a higher price under the same customization? Do they have a better customer service/Warranty than Sager?

    Thanks!!

Most will probably advise you not to order directly from Sager, however I ordered a 9778-S from them with no issues. Ordered the laptop on a Wednesday, paid for the rush build and overnight shipping, and had it delivered by UPS that Friday, and the prices were just as low as any reseller, even cheaper than a few. This was after having an issue with another reseller that I won't name d**cking around with my order and payment for over a week. Not to mention that every other reseller I contacted was quoting me ridiculous times to process payment and get the laptop shipped. If you're not patient like me and want your laptop as fast as possible go with Sager. I really just don't see much of a point in resellers.

Hi Matrix. I just check HIDevolution, but it seems like HIDevolution offer higher price than others.. and it's the most expensive one. And I do check their warranty, seems like not as good as others. Am I taken anything wrong?

    Thanks for sharing your experience!
Did you have that in hand yet? How's the cooling works? Anything needs to mentioned?

The 9778/P770DM has pretty good cooling as it is a little larger laptop so it can still disperse the heat put out by those bigger components.

Yes most retailers you see should be the same price as Sager direct so you won't really be getting advantages on price from Sager direct. I think the reason most people don't go directly through Sager is for warranty issues down the road where if they have an issue with the warranty it is direct between you and the manufacture rather than having a reseller to get your back.

At the end of the day they will be pretty close.

Prostar and mythologic are different clevo builders other than sager resellers.

Strange, when I configured my previos system the P770DM-G their price with lower than others with the same specs.

Also about their warranty, they are great if you are an international customer like me since they will cover the cost of shipping your laptop from wherever you are to them and back to you two times per year. That's why I chose a 3 year warranty with my system.

I've had my laptop for a couple weeks now and everything is fine. GPU temps are pretty amazing (never even touches 70), CPU runs just a little hot for my taste (low 80s or so). Could be due to just getting a not so great sample or inadequate paste job (perhaps due to rush build service), however it doesn't concern me much at the moment since I'm too busy just enjoying the machine so far. Also the 6700k is capable of pretty significant undervolting.

My experiences with resellers haven't been too great which caused a lot of frustration, hence my comment before implying that they are useless. I've heard that Sager can be difficult to deal with concerning warranty issues however, so if you are concerned about that you might want to go with a reseller. They also supposedly do more thorough testing but will probably extend the build time. As far as I'm concerned though Sager handled everything flawlessly.

Yes, there's a difference between a Sager reseller and a Clevo builder. XoticPC is an example of a Sager reseller, while Mythlogic and Eurocom are Clevo builders like Sager. Sager just happens to be pretty big compared to them.
