NP9262 wouldn't start. Found the RAM to be bad, ordered new RAM, installed windows. Worked for less than a day, now new RAM is bad.

Now I am not sure what to do. I can't afford to waste much more time on this thing. What do you guys think? I need a computer, but it doesn't absolutely need to be a laptop. Is it worth trying to salvage the CPU (core2 quad q9550) GPU (quadro 1600m) and HDDs (2 7200rpm 250 GB and 1 7200rpm 500GB) and building a desktop out of them? Is the screen (1920x1200) usable as a monitor?

What do you think I could get for this if I sold it?

    Thanks for any suggestions.

If the new RAM is bad, can't you return it and get an exchange or a refund?

Yes I should be able to send it back to newegg. I guess i am just worried that there is something with my computer that is causing the RAM to go bad (seems unlikely that the new RAM has the same problem as the old. Or maybe it's not, I don't know...

If you guys think I just have bad luck and got some more bad RAM then I will hold out and order another batch.

I use the laptop mostly for architecture design (3ds Max, Adobe Suite, etc.) It used to be my only computer i could do this work on, but now that I have upgraded my desktop, I only need something I can keep at school to work with and use my desktop to work at home. I have a locker on my desk at school that I can use to store a desktop if i want. Laptops just don't seem worth it to me unless you really need to be mobile.

In my opinion, if it is only a RAM issue, return the RAM and get a replacement. With those specs that laptop has many uses for years to come.

What I would do is, I don't usually recommend used things,

but get a USED but tested to be good RAM from the NBR marketplace and see if it goes bad in your laptop.

I mean, there is a chance for a scam, but that way, you can see if it is actually the RAM or the DIMM slots that are causing the problems.

    Hope this helped.

Most RAM from reputable vendors have lifetime warranty, or at least a 5 year. Just contact the manufacturer and request an RMA.
