The more I dig through the forum, the more I uncover not-so-pleasant stories. I mean, there's even a sticky thread talking about the fan speed cannot be manually adjust (among other problems), and a user experience thread about the fan not slowing down even when it's no longer under heavy load.
If I have to spend more hours (and possibly $) fixing QoL issues on a two grands, brand new laptop, I'd rather opt for a cheaper brand now and wait until Clevo gets things straight in their next iterations down the road. Any idea here?

There aren't many threads saying "I got my Sager and it worked adequately", but that's the vast majority of users. Dedicated forums have a habit of making problems seem worse and wider in scope than they actually are. I'm not saying Clevo shouldn't make improvements to their product line, but they're hardly a bad line this time around.

Every brand is going to have their quirks about the systems. Overall, Clevo makes fairly well rounded systems in my opinion. Even in the past few months, I've recommended them to my own family over other brands, and had no issues making those recommendations with confidence.

I got my Sager and it is awesome! purchased through XoticPC just over one year ago and it is running great and cool. I would not hesitate to buy Sager again.

The fans are fine so long as you stay the hell away from Intel XTU.

Thank you for all the reassurance. Like @Tanner@XoticPC said, I won't see a whole lot of happy stories around here since they're all happily playing with their new toy and are too busy to give positive feedback here.

You don't need to use anything. I can only speak for the 870 DM3 but they work without needed 3rd party software and do a great job. I'd especially recommend to steer clear of 1st party software too. XTU runs havoc in the machines and all the newer versions of Clevo Control Center install services from XTU. Once this happens the fans take on a life of their own ie. don't spin sometimes , ramp up late, don't spin down - nasty stuff and a royal PITA to exercise from the machine .Papusan and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -

The fan speed issue is something of a non-issue, as laptops typically don't give you much - if any - control over the fan curve.

I certainly wouldn't start with the Control Center. If it one must install it at all, they shouldn't use anything newer than Control Center AP v5.0001.0.50 otherwise it will install Intel XTU services in the background and totally ruin the fan tables. It's far from an easy fix after that too.

CCC messed with the fans when I initially set up my P670RS. Since updating the BIOS to correct an issue with external displays causing high CPU usage, however, I have had no problems with the software. Just make sure to install the exact version that Clevo provides for the specific model you buy.

Duplicated (OP),
Some guy at XoticPC put doubt in my heart about getting another brand and introduced me to Sager/Clevo. I ended up trying Sager for the first time and I honestly can't say anything bad about Clevo/Sager stuff. So much more value for the money and they honestly don't look bad either.
Keep us posted on what you decide.
Should I still go ahead and get Clevo?
